We specialize in residential remodeling, home additions, garages, ADUs, and select commercial construction and tenant improvement projects. We're seeking an experienced, motivated Construction Business Development Representative to help us develop and execute a consistent customer acquisition strategy. This is an opportunity for a business development professional who enjoys building relationships, identifying new opportunities, and turning those opportunities into signed construction projects. You'll work directly with company ownership and our established construction production team to identify target markets, develop practical outreach strategies, and execute those strategies independently. We're not looking for someone who simply waits for leads to come in. We need someone who can proactively generate business, manage customer relationships, and take ownership of their sales pipeline. You won't be expected to build the company's entire growth strategy alone. You'll collaborate with leadership on the direction while taking responsibility for executing the day-to-day business development activities. What You'll Be Responsible For Business Development & Prospecting Independently research and identify potential customers, projects, and referral partners. Generate qualified opportunities through outbound calls, direct outreach, networking, referrals, and relationship development. Build relationships with architects, designers, real estate professionals, property managers, developers, business owners, and homeowners. Work with company leadership to identify target markets and develop effective customer acquisition strategies. Pursue construction opportunities that can move toward contract in the near term while building a longer-term pipeline of larger projects. Develop and maintain relationships that generate repeat and referral business. Customer Consultations & Sales Respond to incoming inquiries, qualify prospective customers, and schedule appointments. Conduct initial customer meetings and project site visits. Gather customer requirements, project details, measurements, photographs, plans, and available specifications. Organize customer conversations and project information using CRM and AI-assisted documentation tools. Identify missing information and coordinate with the internal team to help establish clear project scopes. Assist with organizing proposal packages and coordinating the information needed for pricing and customer presentations. Present company-approved proposals, explain project scopes and expectations, and answer customer questions. Maintain consistent follow-up, address customer concerns, and guide opportunities toward signed construction contracts. Coordinate the transition of signed projects to the production team. Sales Pipeline & Performance Maintain accurate customer records, appointments, opportunities, and follow-up activities in our CRM. Independently organize daily prospecting, customer meetings, and business development activities. Track qualified leads, appointments, proposal opportunities, and projected contracts. Participate in regular sales and pipeline reviews with company leadership. Identify opportunities to improve our prospecting, customer experience, and sales processes. Take ownership of assigned sales objectives and measurable performance goals. How Our Team Works Ark Light Construction has an established production team responsible for project execution, construction scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and technical oversight. Our internal team handles construction estimating, subcontractor pricing, technical scope verification, and final pricing approval. Your role is to generate and develop opportunities, coordinate the customer-facing sales process, and help move qualified projects through proposal and contract execution. You will not be expected to independently prepare construction estimates, design projects, or establish project pricing. You will, however, be expected to gather accurate information, communicate effectively with our internal team, and help ensure proposals are complete and ready for customer presentation. What We're Looking For We're looking for an intermediate-level sales professional with the experience, confidence, and initiative to manage business development activities without constant supervision. Required Qualifications Demonstrated experience in outside sales, business development, or independently generating new customers. Experience with prospecting, cold calling, networking, or direct business outreach. Strong relationship-building, communication, and customer service skills. Ability to research markets, identify opportunities, and develop prospect lists. Confidence conducting customer meetings and managing sales conversations. Ability to collaborate on strategy and independently execute an established plan. Strong organizational skills and consistent follow-through. Comfortable using CRM software, digital tools, and mobile technology. Ability to learn construction terminology, services, and project qualification requirements. Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally for customer meetings. Preferred Qualifications Approximately 2-5 years of relevant sales or business development experience. Experience in construction, remodeling, roofing, restoration, building materials, commercial services, property management, or related industries. Existing relationships with local businesses, referral partners, or construction industry professionals. Experience managing opportunities from initial prospecting through contract execution. Construction experience is preferred but not required. We value demonstrated prospecting ability, initiative, and the ability to build lasting business relationships. Compensation & Growth Opportunities Base salary: $50,000-$65,000 annually , depending on experience and qualifications. Performance-based commissions on qualifying construction projects. Opportunity to earn six-figure total annual compensation through strong sales performance. Additional earning opportunities for independently generated, profitable business. Fuel reimbursement for approved business travel in accordance with company policy. Direct collaboration with company ownership and an established production team. Opportunity to help shape and grow the company's business development operation. Professional advancement and increased earning opportunities based on performance and company growth. Commission terms, eligibility, and payment conditions will be provided in writing before an employment offer.
