Job Description
Job Overview Texpak, Inc., a 90-year-old, family-owned and operated wholesale distributor of labeling and packaging products based in Franklin Square, NY, is seeking a Sales Trainee / Customer Service Rep to join our team. This role is designed as a growth path into a full Sales position — the person will start in customer service to build deep product knowledge, learn how we work with customers across our core industries (apparel, food, horticultural, and manufacturing/warehousing), and get a firsthand understanding of our operations before eventually moving into a sales role. Responsibilities Serve as a primary point of contact for customer inquiries via phone and email, including answering questions on existing orders Enter customer orders received by phone and email accurately and in a timely manner Review and release orders once back-ordered inventory is delivered Enter and maintain customer notes in our CRM system Learn our full product line (labels, tags, fasteners, printers, and packaging equipment) to confidently answer customer questions, make recommendations, and identify opportunities to upgrade orders based on customer profile Provide general support to sales staff, including checking inventory, researching customer order history, and assisting with custom orders Coordinate with purchasing, shipping, and warehouse teams to track order status and resolve customer issues Follow up with customers on order confirmations, shipping timelines, and any outstanding needs Build familiarity with our operations, including how orders flow from purchasing through fulfillment and eventually to invoicing Over time, begin taking on sales-related responsibilities — including customer outreach, quoting, and relationship management — as product knowledge and performance progress Requirements Strong interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable speaking with customers by phone and email Highly detail-oriented and organized Some prior customer service or sales experience preferred Able to multitask, prioritize, and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment Computer-knowledgeable and familiar with Excel Interest in building a long-term career in sales Must be willing and able to travel for customer visits Previous experience with an ERP system (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Acumatica, Sage) a plus, but not required This is a full-time, in-person job.
