Job Description Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree. Three (3) full time years of experience in partnerships, outreach, lead development, sales support, or a related role. Experience with outreach, relationship-building, or lead generation activities. Proficiency with CRM systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google Workspace.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience representing an organization at conferences, meetings, or external events. Experience supporting proposals, partnerships, or externally facing initiatives. Familiarity with market research, pipeline tracking, or performance metrics. Experience working cross-functionally.Brief Description of Duties:
The Business Engagement Associate supports initiatives at the Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science that advance organizational growth through relationship-building, lead identification, and outreach. This role identifies and researches potential partners and opportunities; builds and maintains relationships; conducts market research; and supports outreach, proposal development, and follow-up efforts. The position requires strong communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to collaborate across teams. Strengthen the Center's visibility and partnerships through professional outreach and sustained relationship development: Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients and partners. Conduct outreach via calls, emails, meetings, and networking Support relationship development with existing and prospective partners Represent the organization at meetings, conferences, and eventsBusiness Opportunity Identification & Market Research:
Support organizational growth by identifying and assessing potential partnership and engagement opportunities. Research potential clients, markets, partnerships, and funding opportunities aligned with Center initiatives Conduct market and competitive research to inform outreach strategies Monitor trends and emerging opportunities relevant to the Center's missionPipeline Development & CRM Management:
Ensure accurate tracking and coordination of outreach and partnership activities. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) Track outreach, meetings, contacts, and prospective opportunities Assist in generating pipeline and activity reports for leadershipProposal, Presentation & Contract Support:
Provide administrative and coordination support for partnership development efforts Assist with preparation of proposals, presentations, and outreach materials Coordinate with internal stakeholders to gather information and documentation Ensure materials are accurate, well-organized, and aligned with Center messagingCross-Functional Collaboration & Internal Coordination :
Promote effective internal collaboration in support of outreach and partnership activities. Coordinate with marketing, finance, operations, and other teams as needed Participate in internal planning and coordination meetings Facilitate clear information sharing across teamsClient Onboarding & Transition Support:
Ensure a smooth handoff from business development to delivery teams. Support client onboarding processes Coordinate handoff documentation and meetings Ensure clarity on scope, timelines, and expectations Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission. This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption. In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $4,000 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly. For this position, we are unable to sponsor candidates for work visas.
