Wine Sales Consultant Full-Time | Base Salary + Commission | Direct-to-Consumer Wine Sales | Oceanside (San Diego County) Turn your passion for wine into a rewarding sales career. Vinera Wine Society is looking for an experienced Wine Sales Consultant who is passionate about wine, comfortable building relationships, and motivated by sales. This is a customer-facing, direct-to-consumer sales role for someone who enjoys connecting with people, developing a book of business, and creating long-term customer relationships. The ideal candidate has proven sales experience and understands that success in wine sales often happens outside traditional business hours . This position requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends, wine events, tastings, and other customer-facing activities. About the Role As a Wine Sales Consultant, you will represent Vinera Wine Society and introduce customers to our collection of boutique, family-owned wines from around the world. You will be responsible for developing new customers while growing relationships with existing clients through a combination of: Direct-to-consumer wine sales Phone and follow-up sales In-home wine tastings and private events Customer referrals and relationship development Wine festivals, trade shows, and community events Client appointments and hosted experiences Wine club and subscription sales Repeat purchases and account development Building and maintaining a personal book of business This is a relationship-driven sales position. The successful candidate will be comfortable initiating conversations, following up consistently, asking for the sale, and creating an exceptional customer experience from the first interaction through repeat purchases. What You'll Do Generate new business through networking, referrals, events, tastings, and proactive outreach Develop and maintain long-term relationships with wine customers Conduct wine presentations, tastings, and private events Sell wine directly to consumers through phone, in-person, and event-based interactions Follow up with prospects and existing customers to generate repeat business Introduce customers to Vinera's wine club and recurring purchase opportunities Maintain accurate customer notes, follow-up activities, and sales information Attend evening and weekend events and customer appointments Meet individual and team sales goals Represent Vinera Wine Society professionally at all times Who We're Looking For We're looking for a proven salesperson , not simply someone who loves wine. The ideal candidate has experience selling directly to consumers and is comfortable with the full sales process—from prospecting and relationship-building to closing the sale and generating repeat business.

You should be:

Experienced in sales, business development, or direct-to-consumer selling Comfortable making phone calls and following up with customers Confident asking for the sale A strong communicator and relationship builder Comfortable working evenings and weekends Organized and disciplined with follow-up Motivated by achieving sales goals Comfortable working independently while being part of a collaborative team Passionate about wine, food, travel, and hospitality Professional, personable, and comfortable speaking with a wide range of customers Wine & Hospitality Experience Wine knowledge is valuable, but sales ability and customer relationship skills are essential. Experience in any of the following is especially valuable: Direct-to-consumer sales Wine or beverage sales Hospitality and restaurant sales Luxury or experiential sales Membership or subscription sales Event sales Account management Business development High-touch customer service A WSET certification or other formal wine education is a plus, but not required. Schedule & Availability This is not a traditional Monday-Friday, 9-to-5 sales position. Wine sales and customer events frequently take place when customers are available—particularly evenings and weekends. Candidates must be willing and able to: Work evenings Work weekends Attend wine tastings and private events Participate in trade shows, festivals, and community events Meet customers outside of traditional business hours Adjust their schedule based on customer and event needs Some remote work and administrative flexibility is available, but this is fundamentally a customer-facing sales role. Compensation Base Salary + Commission Vinera offers a competitive base salary plus commission tied to wine sales and customer development.
