HARDWARE SALES ENTRY LEVEL SALES ASSOCIATE
(SALES TRAINEE)
REPORTS TO
SALES MANAGER Wallace Distribution is seeking a motivated Entry-Level Sales Associate (Sales Trainee) to join our team in a fast-paced wholesale hardware distribution environment. This role is designed to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to become a successful sales professional. The ideal candidate is eager to learn about our extensive product catalog, support customer needs, and contribute to long-term business relationships.
Position Details:
Full-Time; Monday - Friday Standard Business Hours Annual 45k - 70k, based on experience Primarily office-based with customer site visits as needed
Areas of Responsibilities:
Customer Support & Sales Development Assist existing customers with product inquiries, order placement, and service needs Learn and maintain knowledge of wholesale hardware products, applications, and industry trends Shadow senior sales representatives to observe effective sales techniques, and customer interactions Support the preparation of sales quotes, proposals, and order forms Order Processing and Fulfillment Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment Track orders and follow up on backorders, special requests, or shipping issues Verify inventory availability and coordinate with warehouse operations Training and Development Participate in product training, sales techniques, and operational process workshops Learn company policies, pricing structures, and customer service protocol
Recommended Qualifications and Experience:
Strong interest in sales and the hardware/tools/construction industry Excellent interpersonal communication and people skills 3+ years Customer Service 3+ years Customer Account Management Time Management Excellent written and verbal communications skill
Active Listening Skills PLUS:
Experience in Hardware, Lumber and Building Materials industry Experience in Sales and/or
Customer Service Education:
High School or GED
