Exempt Position Summary The Field Sales Representative is a road-first, customer-facing sales role responsible for driving revenue growth by visiting key accounts, upselling products, and taking orders directly in the field. This position is approximately 80% field-based — the Field Sales Rep spends the majority of every work day at customer locations, building face-to-face relationships, presenting new products and promotions, identifying upsell opportunities, and ensuring customers are ordering to their full potential. The remaining time is spent coordinating with the inside sales and operations teams to ensure orders are fulfilled accurately and customer needs are fully met. The ideal candidate is energetic, highly self-motivated, and deeply comfortable in front of customers. They know how to walk into a store, read the buyer, and leave with a bigger order than when they arrived. Key Responsibilities Daily Field Sales & Customer Visits Spend the majority of each working day visiting assigned key customer accounts in person — retail stores, grocery chains, restaurants, and foodservice operators Conduct structured, purposeful visits with each customer focused on reviewing their current orders, identifying gaps, and maximizing sales opportunity Build genuine, trust-based relationships with store owners, buyers, and decision-makers through consistent, professional, and value-driven in-person presence Assess in-store product displays, shelf conditions, and inventory levels to proactively identify upsell and add-on opportunities Maintain a structured daily visit schedule organized by territory and account priority, maximizing time in front of customers Upselling & Order Taking Actively upsell additional products, higher quantities, seasonal items, and promotional offerings to existing customers during every visit Take customer orders in person using Om Produce's order management tools or direct communication channels Introduce new products, featured items, and available deals that align with each customer's business and buying patterns Drive incremental volume by understanding what customers are currently buying elsewhere and presenting Om Produce's competitive advantages Follow up on previous visit commitments and ensure customers are satisfied with their orders and delivery experience before upselling further Leverage festival, seasonal, and promotional calendars to pre-book large orders ahead of peak demand periods Key Account Management Own and manage a defined portfolio of key accounts, serving as their primary Om Produce contact and relationship owner Understand each key account's business deeply — their customer base, buying patterns, category needs, and competitive pressures Develop account-specific growth plans that identify opportunities to increase volume, expand product categories, and deepen the relationship Resolve customer concerns, delivery issues, or quality complaints on the spot or in coordination with the inside sales and operations teams Maintain detailed account notes and visit logs in the CRM system after every customer interaction Market Intelligence & Competitive Awareness Gather and report competitive intelligence from the field including competitor pricing, product gaps, service issues, and customer sentiment Stay current on Om Produce's full product catalog, availability, and pricing so every customer conversation is informed and relevant Share market feedback, customer requests, and product trend observations with the Purchasing and Sales teams regularly Inside Coordination & Order Follow-Through Coordinate with the Inside Sales team to ensure all field-taken orders are entered accurately and confirmed for fulfillment Communicate special customer requests, substitution approvals, and order notes clearly to the inside team after each visit Follow up with customers post-delivery to confirm satisfaction and reinforce the relationship for the next order Collaborate with Purchasing to stay informed on product availability, so upsell conversations in the field are always grounded in what Om Produce can actually deliver Reporting & Performance Tracking Log all customer visits, orders taken, and upsell activity in the CRM system daily Submit weekly field activity reports to the VP of Sales including accounts visited, orders generated, upsell wins, and pipeline updates Track personal sales performance against monthly and quarterly revenue targets and adjust field strategy as needed Participate in weekly sales team meetings to share field insights and align on priorities Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience) 3+ years of field sales, outside sales, or account management experience required Experience in fresh produce, food distribution, ethnic grocery, or perishable goods strongly preferred Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets through direct customer engagement Experience selling to multicultural retail, independent grocery, or restaurant accounts a significant plus Skills & Competencies Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills — warm, confident, and persuasive in face-to-face customer interactions Natural upseller with the ability to read a customer's needs and present the right product at the right moment Highly self-motivated and disciplined — able to manage a full field schedule independently without daily supervision Strong organizational and time management skills to maximize daily territory coverage Comfortable using CRM tools, order management apps, and mobile communication platforms in the field Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required; mileage reimbursement provided Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred; English/Hindi or English/Gujarati a significant plus Work Environment & Schedule Approximately 80% field-based with 20% office/coordination time Early morning availability required — many customer visits take place before or at store opening Weekend availability required as customer operations run 7 days a week Must be comfortable driving throughout the assigned territory daily
