OVERVIEW
We're hiring a Sales & Design Consultant to join our team at our new location in Troy, VA. Established in 2003, The Artful Lodger is a destination for creating beautiful interiors, specializing in custom furniture, unique gifts, and home décor. Our business is rooted in creative expression and personable customer relationships. As a Sales & Design Consultant, you'll be a key part of the customer experience, building relationships, identifying customer needs, presenting products, and confidently guiding clients through the sales process. You'll manage sales from the initial conversation through purchase and follow-up, while creating a welcoming and personalized showroom experience. The ideal candidate is a confident, creative, personable, and motivated self-starter who thrives in a team environment, takes initiative, and is driven to deliver strong results.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide an exceptional customer experience through strong product knowledge, personalized attention, and elevated service
- Build relationships with clientele and confidently guide sales from the initial conversation through purchase and follow-up
- Operate the Point-of-Sale system accurately and efficiently, including processing sales and payments
- Receive, unbox, organize, and merchandise new products to maintain an inviting and visually appealing showroom
- Develop and maintain strong product knowledge to confidently educate clients and make informed recommendations
- Support day-to-day retail operations, including opening and closing procedures
- Ability to lift and move items up to 25 lbs. using appropriate equipment and techniques
- Position requires extended periods of standing and frequent bending, kneeling, squatting, and climbing
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Customer service experience required
- Retail or sales experience required
- Computer proficiency required, including Microsoft Office and Point-of-Sale system
- Background or passion for interior design preferred

JOB TYPES
Full-time, part-time If you enjoy sales, have an eye for design, and want to be part of a team that values creativity and exceptional service, we'd love to meet you! This position is approximately 22-38 hours per week and requires availability on Saturdays. Hours are Tuesday-Friday, 10:00 AM-6:00 PM, and Saturday, 10:00 AM-4:00 PM.
