ABOUT NORTHEAST SOLAR
Northeast Solar is a locally based solar and home energy company in Hatfield, Massachusetts. We help homeowners make informed decisions about solar, battery storage and air source heat pumps through friendly service, professional design and quality installation. We are seeking an experienced salesperson who develops new business, follows through consistently and guides customers from their first conversation to a signed agreement. Solar sales experience is preferred.
THE OPPORTUNITY
You will work with company-provided leads while also generating opportunities through referrals, local relationships, community outreach and prospecting. You will help homeowners understand how solar, storage and heat pumps can address their energy costs, comfort and resilience. This position combines customer consultations, local site visits, remote follow-up and collaboration with our design and installation teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Understand each homeowner's energy use, priorities, budget and goals. Recommend suitable solar, battery storage and heat pump solutions, including complementary products where they serve the customer's needs. Coordinate proposals with the design team and present professionally prepared designs, scope, pricing and production estimates. Confirm that customers understand the proposed design and acknowledge that it meets their stated goals. Explain projected savings, estimated solar cost per kWh, remaining utility charges and applicable incentives using approved information and assumptions. Manage follow-up, answer objections and guide customers toward a clear decision and signed agreement. Generate new opportunities through prospecting, referrals, community events and local relationships. Participate in marketing campaigns and provide feedback about customer questions and needs. Coordinate or conduct site visits as required and communicate realistic project expectations. Keep contacts, deals, communication notes and dated next steps current in HubSpot. Meet agreed sales goals, attend sales meetings and training, and provide complete customer handoffs to operations.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
At least two years of sales experience with responsibility for personally closing business and meeting sales goals. Demonstrated ability to generate opportunities and manage an active sales pipeline. Strong listening, presentation, written communication and follow-up skills. Experience using a CRM and willingness to use HubSpot consistently. Computer proficiency with email, calendars, spreadsheets, PDFs, document sharing, video meetings and digital presentations. Ability to learn technical products and explain their benefits and limitations clearly. Ability to work independently while coordinating reliably with a team. Valid driver's license and ability to travel to customers throughout the assigned Western Massachusetts territory. High school diploma or equivalent. Availability for occasional evening or weekend customer appointments and events.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Residential solar sales experience, particularly presenting proposals and closing contracts. Hands-on HubSpot experience with contacts, deals, tasks, activity logging and pipeline reporting. Experience selling battery storage, heat pumps, HVAC or other home improvements. Familiarity with solar proposal and production-estimating tools. Knowledge of applicable Massachusetts and federal energy programs, with a commitment to keeping that knowledge current.
HOW TO APPLY
Submit your résumé and a brief summary addressing: What products or services you have sold and your responsibility for closing sales. A specific sales accomplishment or example of meeting a sales goal. How you generate your own leads and develop referral relationships. Which CRM systems and computer programs you have used and what you did with them. Whether you have used HubSpot and which features you worked with. Any solar, battery storage, heat pump or related home energy experience. Our interview process may include a short proposal discussion and a practical software exercise using fictional customer information. Northeast Solar welcomes qualified applicants and evaluates job-related skills and experience, with reasonable accommodation where applicable.
