Job Description This role supports a large manufacturing operation by accurately receiving, storing, issuing, and tracking materials in the stockroom. Working under moderate supervision, you will handle inventory control activities, move materials to production and shipping areas, and assist with maintaining accurate computerized inventory records. You will play a key role in ensuring that materials are available where and when they are needed to keep production running smoothly. Responsibilities Receive, identify, log, and store materials and supplies from manufacturing, receiving, and inspection areas in an organized and accurate manner. Select, count, weigh-count, and deliver materials to various manufacturing departments and the Shipping Department in accordance with material requisitions. Check parts for correct identification numbers and descriptions to ensure proper storage and accurate material selection. Prepare and write shortage requisitions when materials are not available to fulfill orders. Prepare stock areas and assist in conducting cycle counts and physical inventories to maintain accurate stock levels. Assist in entering basic inventory data into computerized systems to support inventory tracking and reporting. Load and unload delivery trucks, including strapping loads securely, to transfer inventory to and from other company locations as needed. Pack parts in cartons for shipment as directed, ensuring items are properly protected and labeled. Assist in mailing and receiving areas when needed to support overall material flow throughout the facility. Operate an abrasive saw as needed, following all safety procedures and work instructions. Clean and maintain work areas to ensure a safe, organized, and efficient stockroom environment. Consistently report to work on time and maintain regular attendance in accordance with company policies. Fully comply with company rules, policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to ensure safe and effective operations. Essential Skills Some experience or training in material stocking, storage, or inventory control. Basic knowledge of safe equipment operating procedures and industrial work practices. Ability to operate forklifts safely and efficiently, following applicable safety regulations and procedures. Ability to operate weigh-counting scales accurately for material handling and inventory purposes. Basic computer skills to assist with entering and updating inventory data. Ability to read and interpret work orders and material specifications. Ability to complete shortage requisitions and basic inventory records accurately and legibly. Ability to inspect parts, materials, and work in progress for conformity with quality standards. Ability to understand and follow written and verbal operating procedures and work instructions. Ability to communicate clearly and work cooperatively with coworkers and other departments. Ability to bend, lift, move, and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to alternately stand and walk for extended periods of time during the shift. Ability to operate a forklift and a bicycle as required by assigned duties. Additional Skills & Qualifications Prior experience in a stockroom, warehouse, or manufacturing environment is desirable. Experience with inventory control practices such as cycle counting and physical inventories is beneficial. Familiarity with order pulling and material requisition processes is an advantage. Experience assisting in shipping, mailing, or receiving areas is helpful. Comfort operating additional equipment such as an abrasive saw in a production setting. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a manufacturing facility that produces valves for various industries, ranging in size from about the size of a softball to the size of a large engine. The environment involves regular movement throughout stockroom, production, and shipping areas, with frequent standing, walking, lifting, and material handling. You will operate equipment such as forklifts, bicycles, weigh-counting scales, and an abrasive saw, following strict safety procedures and guidelines. The role follows a first-shift schedule from 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM, with overtime available as needed. The workspace requires adherence to safety rules, use of appropriate protective equipment as provided, and maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Costa Mesa, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.50
