Overview We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Produce Clerk to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that our produce department operates smoothly and efficiently. This position involves maintaining the quality and freshness of our products while providing exceptional customer service. Position:
Produce Clerk work hours are Friday thru Tuesday 12:30pm to 8:30pm

Produce Manager Purpose:
Keep displays, coolers, and shelves fully stocked, clean, and tidy while providing prompt, friendly, and helpful customer service. Foster a team environment while meeting department objectives.
Responsibilities:
I.CUSTOMER SERVICE A.
Take initiative to assist customers with product questions in a prompt, friendly, and helpful manner, referring them to other staff when necessary. B. Offer suggestions for purchases and ideas to prepare products to Perishables Manager
II. STOCKING A.
Wash and properly prep wet-rack items. B. Rotate older stock to top, making space for new stock. Check for back stock prior to stocking. C. Stock displays fully without over crowding, face items on shelves. D. Pull short date or low-quality items and then follow the established procedures for recording and disposing of them in a timely manner. E. While stocking, check to ensure shelf tags are in place and correct. Label items accurately with price tags or signs if needed. Report price discrepancies to the supervisor.
III. RECEIVING A.
Check for damage and unacceptable quality, notify purchaser of problems. B. Breakdown pallets of produce and organize in to produce cooler. C. Properly rotate stock into walk-in as per instruction from the Manager. Mark date received on each box.
IV. DEPARTMENT MAINTENANCE A.
Keep shelves, coolers, back stock, and bins clean and in orderly condition. Dust and clean shelves, and product, when stocking. Remove trash promptly, recycle as needed, and sweep and mop floors. B. Keep department equipment in assigned area and in working order. C. Use equipment safely and inform your supervisor of equipment problems. D. Record department shrink promptly and accurately. E. Participate in periodic inventory.
V. PRIORITIES A.
Break down incoming orders. B. Prep and rotate while stocking. C. Keep walk-in and back stock area clean and well organized at all times. D. Stage or stock sale items, end-caps and super savers. Stock displays. E. Facing and cleaning throughout the produce department.
VI. OTHER A.
Follow company policies and practice safety on the job. B. Perform other tasks assigned by your Supervisor (Manager). C. Introduce new ideas for efficiency or products for the store.
Qualifications:
Willingness and ability to learn to meet the changing requirements of the job. Able to handle multiple demands. Experience serving the public. Familiarity with natural foods. Able to continuously lift 50 lbs. Able to stand for long periods of time. Accuracy and attention to detail. Regular, predictable attendance. Duties Assist customers with their produce selections, providing knowledgeable recommendations and answering any questions they may have. Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the produce department, ensuring all products are well-stocked and visually appealing. Package produce items as needed, ensuring proper labeling and presentation for customers. Utilize a pallet jack to move stock as necessary while adhering to safety protocols. Collaborate with team members to ensure the department meets sales goals and customer satisfaction standards. Communicate effectively with customers and coworkers to foster a positive shopping experience. Experience Previous experience in retail sales or customer service is preferred but not required. Familiarity with inventory control processes is a plus. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply, as effective communication is key in serving our diverse clientele. Ability to maintain a positive attitude while working in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in stocking and maintaining produce displays.
