Position Summary The Parcel Operations Lead owns the complete outbound small-parcel operation, including USPS, UPS, FedEx, and Amazon carrier shipments, as well as consolidation orders and pulled-parts orders. This role directs the daily work of the picking team, coordinates picking and parcel preparation priorities, confirms orders are processed correctly and on time, and follows exceptions through final resolution. The Lead works closely with the Warehouse Supervisor and Warehouse Manager to maintain safe, accurate, and efficient parcel operations. Essential Responsibilities

• Lead the daily outbound small-parcel workflow from order release and picking through packing, labeling, ship verification, staging, and carrier handoff.
• Own the complete consolidation-order workflow, ensuring all required items are picked, verified, combined correctly, labeled, documented, staged, and released according to the order requirements.
• Oversee pulled-parts orders from request through completion, confirming the correct parts and quantities are pulled, labeled, documented, staged in the designated area, and communicated to the appropriate team; escalate shortages or delays promptly.
• Direct, prioritize, and balance the daily workload of all assigned pickers based on order age, carrier cutoff times, retailer requirements, and urgent shipment needs.
• Conduct start-of-shift planning with the picking and parcel teams, communicate priorities clearly, and reassign labor when volume or operational conditions change.
• Monitor USPS, UPS, FedEx, and Amazon carrier orders throughout the day and ensure all eligible shipments are completed before the applicable cutoff.
• Verify the team is using the correct shipping method, labels, packaging, documentation, and ship-verification process for each carrier and retailer program.
• Ensure parcel orders are picked accurately, packed securely, labeled correctly, scanned, and staged in the proper carrier location.
• Review open orders, unshipped orders, failed labels, carrier errors, inventory shortages, missed scans, and other exceptions; assign corrective actions and follow each issue through resolution.
• Coordinate daily parcel pickups and confirm carrier handoff. Escalate late or missed pickups immediately and continue follow-up until a recovery plan is confirmed.
• Confirm end-of-day completion by reconciling open orders, staged shipments, carrier pickups, and unresolved exceptions before leaving the shift.
• Coach pickers and parcel employees on productivity, accuracy, safe equipment use, proper scanning, and standard operating procedures.
• Track and communicate employee performance, attendance concerns, process failures, and retraining needs to the Warehouse Supervisor or Warehouse Manager.
• Maintain organized picking, packing, staging, and carrier areas and enforce housekeeping and safety expectations.
• Cross-train team members and maintain sufficient backup coverage for critical parcel and picking functions.
• Support other outbound functions when parcel work is complete or when directed by warehouse management. Performance Expectations
• Eligible parcel orders shipped on time and before carrier cutoffs.
• High picking, packing, labeling, and ship-verification accuracy.
• No preventable orders left unworked, unverified, or in the wrong carrier staging area.
• Consolidation orders and pulled-parts orders are completed accurately, staged correctly, and tracked through final handoff without preventable delays.
• Picker productivity and workload are monitored, balanced, and communicated daily.
• Carrier or system exceptions are escalated promptly and tracked through resolution.
• Accurate end-of-day status is provided for all remaining open parcel orders. Qualifications and Skills
• Prior warehouse, order fulfillment, shipping, or small-parcel experience required; lead experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of USPS, UPS, FedEx, and parcel shipping processes; experience with Amazon carrier shipments is preferred.
• Experience directing pickers or coordinating a high-volume outbound workflow.
• Strong follow-through, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to learn and use warehouse systems, scanners, shipping software, email, and operational trackers.
• Ability to remain calm, make sound priority decisions, and communicate issues promptly in a fast-paced environment. Physical and Work Requirements
• Ability to work safely in an active warehouse environment and remain on the warehouse floor for most of the shift.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and regularly lift, carry, push, pull, or move items weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to work the scheduled shift and adjust priorities when daily shipping volume, carrier schedules, or operational needs change.
• Must follow all safety rules, equipment requirements, attendance standards, and warehouse policies.

Leadership Expectations This is a hands-on lead role. The Lead is expected to work alongside the team, set the pace, provide clear direction, verify completion, address issues promptly, and escalate risks before they affect customers or shipping performance. The Lead supports daily execution but does not independently issue formal discipline unless authorized by management.

Someone who is comfortable working with computers and shipping systems who can also work on the warehouse floor and communicate with carriers and the shipping team.
