This is a developmental role designed for someone who wants to build a long-term career in commodity futures and options brokerage and is willing to learn the business from the ground up. We are seeking candidates who align personally and professionally with our core values of stewardship, servant leadership, courage, commitment, integrity, loyalty and passion . We are looking for someone with the right combination of sales ability, customer service skills, initiative, professionalism, and the ability to learn quickly. The Associate Commodity Broker will begin by working with warm leads and existing subscribers, developing relationships with prospective brokerage clients, and helping convert qualified prospects into brokerage customers. At the same time, you will receive extensive hands-on training in our brokerage operation, futures and options markets, client servicing, regulatory requirements, and the responsibilities required to eventually manage your own book of business. This is not intended to be a permanent associate position. Successful employees will progress through a structured development period of approximately 9-18 months, depending on demonstrated knowledge, performance, and readiness, with the goal of advancing into a Commodity Broker/Market Advisor role. What You'll Do As an Associate Commodity Broker, you will: Contact warm leads from established call lists, including current subscribers and prospective brokerage customers. Build relationships with prospects and introduce the brokerage services available through our organization and Futures Commission Merchant (FCM). Identify prospective clients' brokerage needs and work to convert qualified prospects into active brokerage accounts. Conduct consistent outbound telephone and follow-up activity to develop new brokerage business. Learn the fundamentals of commodity futures and options markets and how our brokerage operation serves clients. Develop a working understanding of brokerage procedures, trade execution, account servicing, compliance requirements, and customer communications. Work alongside experienced brokers and team members to learn how client relationships are developed and managed. Provide responsive, professional service to prospective and existing customers. Maintain accurate records of prospect activity, communications, and follow-up. Complete required licensing and registration requirements, including the Series 3 examination and applicable National Futures Association (NFA) registration requirements, before performing activities for which those credentials are required. Demonstrate proficiency in the knowledge, skills, judgment, sales performance, customer service, and compliance expectations established for advancement to the Commodity Broker/Market Advisor position. Your Career Path This position is designed to develop the next generation of brokers within our organization. During an anticipated 9-18 month training and development period, you will be expected to demonstrate increasing proficiency in areas such as: Commodity futures and options markets Brokerage products and services Prospecting and sales Client communication and relationship management Trade and account processes Risk concepts and appropriate client communications Regulatory and compliance requirements Internal systems and procedures Customer service and problem-solving Professional judgment and accountability Advancement is based on demonstrated readiness rather than simply time in the position. Once you have successfully completed the development program and met the organization's requirements for advancement, you may progress into a Commodity Broker/Market Advisor role. As a broker, you will have the opportunity to develop and manage your own book of brokerage clients, build new business, and work directly with clients in an ongoing consultative relationship. For someone with strong sales instincts and the drive to build a business, this position offers a path from learning the brokerage industry to developing a client base of your own. Interested in commodity markets, futures, options, agriculture, finance, trading, or brokerage. Education & Experience A college degree is not required. Some college, technical education, or other post-secondary education is preferred but not necessary. Relevant professional experience may substitute for formal education. Previous experience in sales, customer service, agriculture, financial services, brokerage, commodities, trading, or another relationship-driven business is beneficial but not required. We are willing to train the right person who demonstrates the aptitude, work ethic, sales ability, and commitment necessary to succeed. Licensing & Registration This position requires the employee to obtain and maintain the licenses and registrations necessary to perform assigned brokerage activities, including: Series 3 - National Commodities Futures Examination Part of the on-the-job training program includes studying and testing for the Series 3. If you already have your Series 3, you are a step ahead of the game and may be able to fast track through the training program based on the demonstrated abilities listed previously. What Success Looks Like Success in this position is more than passing an exam or completing a set amount of time in training. A successful Associate Commodity Broker demonstrates the ability to generate new brokerage relationships, earn the trust of clients, understand the futures and options brokerage business, operate within regulatory and compliance requirements, and progressively take greater responsibility for client relationships. Our goal is to develop someone who can ultimately move beyond working a lead list and become a capable broker who builds and manages a successful book of business. This is a full-time position, Monday-Friday. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 401k match, AFLAC, and paid time off. Base salary during training, highly commission based, and potential to earn a profit-sharing bonus. Specific salary details to be discussed and based on experience.
