Job Description
Job Description The Lead Receiving Operator oversees daily operations on the receiving dock, guiding a small team while actively participating in all receiving activities. This working lead serves as the primary point of contact for drivers and supports the department manager by ensuring accurate, timely, and efficient handling of all incoming materials in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Lead a small receiving team while performing hands-on dock operations. Act as main contact for drivers and direct dock traffic. Support daily receiving workflow as the manager's lead. Record scrap and complete rework each day. Inspect and verify incoming shipments for accuracy and condition. Match packing lists and BOLs to received materials. Label, scan, and document loads for traceability. Enter receipts into ERP and maintain organized records. Report discrepancies to Planners. Perform general receiving tasks including unloading, palletizing, and staging. Support inventory control and stockroom replenishment. Operate forklifts and pallet jacks. Assist with order picking and packaging. Essential Skills Proven leadership experience in a warehouse or receiving environment, at minimum in a team lead capacity. Warehouse leadership experience in a team‑lead or similar role. Hands‑on receiving experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment. Experience using ERP systems (IQMS, SAP, or similar) to track incoming shipments. Proficiency with RF scanners for receiving and data capture. Ability to operate a sit‑down forklift safely and efficiently. Knowledge of core shipping/receiving tasks including unloading, loading, wrapping, palletizing, packing, sorting, and staging. Strong inventory control skills including replenishment and accurate record keeping. Basic computer proficiency for data entry and system updates. Ability to stand for full shifts in a fast‑paced environment. Ability to lift 10-50 lbs as required. Willingness to work 50 hours weekly including overtime and some weekends. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience as a receiver or lead in a manufacturing environment with awareness of production deadlines and material flow. Familiarity with ERP systems such as IQMS, SAP, or similar for receiving and inventory control. Experience in warehouse functions including order pulling, picking, packaging, pallet jack use, and stockroom tasks. Knowledge of international shipping and related documentation (preferred). Effective communication skills with Planners, drivers, and internal teams regarding discrepancies and material status. Strong attention to detail in documentation, labeling, and system accuracy. Work Environment The role is based in a bright and organized warehouse and manufacturing facility that operates efficiently, even though some production areas can feel compact due to the amount of equipment and activity. The facility is not air conditioned, so temperatures can become hot near machines during the summer months.
Two primary shifts are available:
a first shift from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and a second shift from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with regular overtime and some weekend work expected, averaging around 50 hours per week. The environment is fast-paced and safety-focused, with required safety glasses and closed-toe shoes in production areas, and gloves provided in certain areas. Employees regularly use sit-down forklifts, pallet jacks, RF scanners, and ERP systems as part of daily operations. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Lafayette, IN.
