10-25 hours per week (very flexible) About White Pine Micro Markets White Pine Micro Markets is a Maine-based company bringing modern AI-powered smart stores and micro-markets to apartments, hotels, workplaces, colleges, transportation hubs, warehouse break rooms, and tourist destinations throughout New England. We specialize in premium unattended retail experiences featuring advanced technology, fresh food, national brands, and locally sourced Maine and New England products. As our company continues to grow, we are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented independent contractor to help service our expanding network of locations. Position Overview This is a 1099 independent contractor position offering a high level of independence and scheduling flexibility. Contractors are responsible for servicing assigned locations, stocking products, maintaining attractive retail displays, rotating inventory, and helping ensure our smart stores consistently provide a first-class customer experience. Current route coverage extends from Kennebunk to Auburn, Maine. However, White Pine Micro Markets is actively expanding throughout New England. As new locations are added, in the next year service coverage is expected to expand to Bangor, Maine through Southern Maine, and into Manchester, New Hampshire, and portions of Northern Massachusetts. Applicants should be comfortable driving throughout the current service territory and understand that route assignments may evolve as the company continues to add new customers. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, driving, staying active, and taking pride in maintaining clean, organized retail environments. Current Client Types Our locations currently include: Luxury apartment communities Hotels and hospitality properties Warehouse and manufacturing break rooms Colleges and universities Tourist attractions and destinations Transportation and commuter facilities Responsibilities Restock smart stores and micro-markets on assigned routes Load, transport, and unload inventory using storage bins and carts Rotate products using FIFO (First In, First Out) inventory practices Monitor expiration dates and freshness of products Remove or report products approaching expiration Ensure fresh food, beverages, and snacks are properly rotated and merchandised Use smartphone-based inventory management systems Use company timekeeping applications to clock in and out of service visits for accurate reporting Maintain clean, organized, and visually appealing retail displays Identify low inventory levels and communicate restocking needs Report equipment issues, service concerns, or maintenance needs promptly Represent White Pine Micro Markets professionally at all client locations Requirements Reliable personal vehicle capable of transporting multiple inventory bins Valid driver's license and current auto insurance Smartphone (iOS or Android) Ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds repeatedly Comfortable driving throughout Maine, New Hampshire, and Northern Massachusetts as service routes expand Understanding of product rotation and inventory management principles Ability to follow FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures and maintain freshness standards Dependable, punctual, and detail-oriented Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Positive attitude and professional appearance Scheduling One of the major advantages of this position is schedule flexibility. Many of our locations operate 24 hours per day, allowing service visits to be completed during a variety of hours. However, several customer locations require service during normal business hours, typically between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM . Weekday availability is most important for this role, although occasional weekend opportunities are also available. Inventory pickup and route preparation occur at our warehouse facility located on Portland Road in Gray, Maine.
