Lead Clerk - Night Shift Ulm C-Store - Ulm, MT 59485 Apply Overview Position Type Full Time Apply Description
JOB SUMMARY
The Lead Clerk (LC) is an essential point of contact for Mountain View Co-op (MVC) customers and supports daily store operations. This position is primarily scheduled for night shifts and provides guidance to team members during assigned shifts. The LC performs key holder duties, including closing procedures and securing the facility, as scheduled. The LC must maintain a positive and cooperative attitude that promotes teamwork, integrity, honesty, and helpfulness. Leading by example, the LC will represent MVC in a professional and respectful manner and uphold MVC's culture of customer service. This position does not have formal supervisory authority.
Note:
Shift assignments may include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
Reports to the Location Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Establish and maintain a positive customer service experience Provide professional service to customers, clients, and vendors Report for duty in a fit condition, complying with dress code and hygiene standards Assist with resolving customer concerns and escalate issues to management as needed Provide operational feedback to management Provide work direction and support to team members during assigned shifts (non-supervisory) Uphold MVC policies and procedures Process orders and assist with inventory as directed Ensure the location is properly stocked, faced, and organized Ensure perishable products are rotated and stored properly Maintain a clean and orderly store environment Stay informed of promotions and assist customers with product recommendations Communicate product handling and safety information to customers Maintain accurate cash handling and follow MVC credit policy Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system Ensure transaction accuracy and proper documentation of discrepancies Perform key holder duties, including opening and closing procedures and securing the facility as scheduled Be responsible for assigned shift cash processes, including end-of-shift reconciliation and nightly drops when applicable Assist with basic facility and equipment maintenance Support store performance by maintaining merchandising and operational standards Promote and follow workplace safety practices Safely handle fuels and regulated materials (gasoline, propane, chemicals, etc.) Perform other duties as assigned
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & ABILITIES
Knowledge and understanding of: Customer service Phone etiquette Organization Basic math and cash handling MVC products and operations Basic computer programs (POS, word processing, spreadsheets) Safety rules and procedures Ability to: Build effective working relationships with customers and coworkers Communicate clearly and professionally Follow verbal and written instructions Provide guidance and direction to team members during shifts (non-supervisory) Report to work on time and as scheduled Work varied shifts and days as required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Training:
High School Diploma or GED (preferred)
Experience:
Prior customer service or retail experience (preferred)
License/Certification:
Valid Montana Driver's License (if required for location) Forklift Certification or ability to obtain (if applicable)

Essential Physical Abilities:
Clarity of speech and hearing that permits the employee to communicate effectively with internal and external customers. Clarity of vision to include; near and far vision, ability to focus while operating computers and viewing monitors, and ability to read printed materials. Manual dexterity that permits the employee to operate a personal computer, organize files, handle products, and operate equipment. Ability to lift 50 pounds. Ability to walk, stand, and reach for the duration of the shift. Ability to occasionally stoop, kneel, and climb.
Working Conditions:
Work is generally performed in a retail environment. Customer assistance and location duties are required in all weather conditions. Various noise levels are present in the work environment, from low to moderately loud.
