Job Description

Lead Receiver Job Description Sagaponack General StorePosition Type:
Full time, 35 hours per week minimum Oct - April, 40-50hrs per week minimum April - Oct. Position Overview The Lead Receiver is responsible for ensuring all incoming deliveries are received, documented, and put away accurately and efficiently. This role is critical to maintaining inventory integrity, product quality, and overall operational flow. In addition to receiving responsibilities, the Lead Receiver plays a leadership role in training stock staff and maintaining back-of-house standards. Due to the seasonal nature of the business, this position also supports front-of-house operations as needed. Core ResponsibilitiesReceiving & Inventory Management Receive all deliveries in a timely and organized manner Inspect all incoming goods for accuracy, quality, and damage Ensure all products are properly stored according to category and standards and put in appropriate back stock area (dry, refrigerated, frozen) Make sure items are clearly labeled. Communicate to management when a new item has been delivered and making sure to ask management if there are items delivered that you don't know where they are supposed to go. Maintain clean, organized storage areas at all times (backstock areas, floor shelves, cooler, and freezer areas) Break down boxes and dispose of packaging appropriately Must be available to work on days of largest deliveries during the busiest months (May-Dec): Wednesdays - Saturdays Maintain food safety and sanitation standards Assist on the sales floor or with stocking during busy periods Coordinate with department leads to prioritize stocking needs Work with Cashier Lead and Management to ensure items going out on shelves are fresh and are not past their best by dates. Check for this daily. Make sure items coming in don't have a short shelf life - talk to management if so to remedy this with vendor. Invoice & Documentation Management Ensure all invoices are collected and shared with management daily Verify invoices match delivered goods (quantities, items, pricing discrepancies) Flag and communicate any inconsistencies immediately Damage & Issue Reporting Identify and document any damaged or missing items upon delivery Report all issues promptly to a manager for resolution Maintain clear communication with management on vendor performance Team Leadership & Training Train stockers on proper receiving, storage, and organizational standards Reinforce systems for cleanliness, rotation, and efficiency Lead by example in maintaining high operational standards Operational Awareness & Accountability Monitor back-of-house conditions and flag issues to management Report when staff leave behind trash, boxes, or incomplete tasks Support a culture of accountability without directly managing disciplinary action Potential FOH Support (Tips Applicable) Work shifts as a barista or cashier as needed during slower seasons Maintain the same standard of hospitality and efficiency in FOH roles Adapt to operational needs while maintaining primary responsibilities Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)Receiving Accuracy 98-100% accuracy in order verification (items, quantities, condition) Zero unreported discrepancies or damages Timeliness All deliveries received, checked, and stored within 2 hours of arrival Invoices submitted to management same-day (100% compliance) Organization & Cleanliness Storage areas maintained at all times (daily checks pass without manager intervention) Boxes broken down and removed immediately after stocking Damage & Issue Reporting 100% of damaged or missing items reported same day Clear, consistent communication with management Training Effectiveness New stockers trained within 1-2 shifts to meet store standards Reduction in stocking errors or misplaced items over time Accountability & Communication Proactive reporting of operational issues (not reactive) Consistent communication with management regarding team performance and gaps Expectations for Success Highly organized and detail-oriented Strong sense of ownership over back-of-house operations Clear and proactive communicator Team-oriented with leadership instincts Adaptable to seasonal changes and operational needs
Compensation:
$20-$24 an hour overtime when applicable, 30% off in store, 10% off merch, daily staff lunch, 1 Sagaponack Hat, T-shirt & Crewneck Sweatshirt.
