Job Description

Hours :
Part Time - 14-25 hrs/week. Sunday & Monday morning shifts and Tuesday through Saturday afternoon/evening shifts are available.
Compensation :
$17.05/hour

Deli workers stock and maintain fresh prepared foods including sandwiches, a salad bar, and hot foods. We also provide cheeses from around the world and locally raised fresh meats. Washing dishes is a primary responsibility. North Store Deli workers may be expected to act as cashiers. Deli team members follow all regulatory health standards.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Strong customer service and team skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills Excellent organizational skills, ability to work under pressure, and ability to prioritize tasks Able to accept direction, show enthusiasm and demonstrate initiative in completing assigned tasks Able to lift 50# Must be of legal age to sell alcohol (18 years) Able to remain standing for long periods Able to use in-store reference materials to research product questions for customers Stocking and receiving experience preferred Must have recent deli and/or food service experience Fast-paced food service experience preferred Demonstrates an interest in cheeses, meats, and prepared foods Familiar with special diets and natural/organic ingredients Must possess a current Food Handler's Card Able to safely operate deli/food service equipment Able to practice and maintain high safety and health standards
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Customer Service:
Provide immediate and enthusiastic customer service at all times to all customers by filling individual requests for product, information, and assistance in selections. Show enthusiasm in providing samples/tastes to all customers. Develop well-rounded product knowledge in order to suggest appropriate products and companion purchases, help customers locate items, and provide ingredient information Ensure that customer service is the first priority and operational tasks do not distract from the service of customers.
Deli Operations:
Assist with morning opening and evening closing procedures, as assigned. Assess, stock, and merchandise Deli areas regularly, including service case, salad bar, hot food bar, coffee bar, and grab and go cases. Maintain cleanliness of all deli areas and equipment; attend to spills regularly. Keep customer eating areas clean and free of dirty dishes. Regularly wash and sanitize dishes. Monitor levels and temperatures of prepared foods, meats and cheeses. Properly heat and maintain hot bar items. Review and restock sandwich bar items; fill customer requests for made-to-order sandwiches. Give feedback to supervisor on inventory levels of deli items, as requested.
Stocking:
Stock and rotate prepared foods, cheeses, and meats regularly and accurately. Cut, wrap, price, and stock sufficient quantities of cheese to meet customer demand. Cut, wrap, and label cheeses to order as requested by customers. Become familiar with cheeses, cuts of fresh and frozen meat, and prepared foods offerings. Become familiar with vendor delivery schedules. Keep cheese and meat back-stock organized and properly stored. Regularly review all cheese, meat, and deli cases for pull dates, label errors, compromised packaging, and other issues that may affect Understand information on shelf tags; monitor and check against products for accuracy. Label out-of-stock items.
Operational Procedures:
Assist with department resets, equipment cleaning and department inventories. Understand and follow established procedures for handling and recording past-pull items and markdowns. Understand and follow established procedures for handling transfers between departments and transfers from store to store. Understand systems for merchandise returns, customer holds, customer input, and product requests. Understand and follow established procedures for receiving products. Understand our special order system. Be able to train other team members. Work alongside and help coach/guide Owner Workers, as directed. Create passive demos with accurate signage showing price and size information Perform other duties as assigned, such as placing orders for product.
