Job Description

THIS POSITION IS POSTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE AFSCME COLLECTIVE BARGAINING UNIT SUMMARY
Central Stores is a core, value-added service to IUP. Using computerization, automation, and just-in-time philosophies, the objective is to accentuate information flows to promote quality service and eliminate waste. Central Stores is responsible primarily for the receiving, storage, and distribution of maintenance, repair, and operations products to service the trades. Ancillary to these responsibilities are office products to support campus clerical and printing services. Similar value-added services, such as disposition of surplus and asset and file storage are provided to better serve our campus customers. The Central Storeroom in Robertshaw is part of the Supply Chain Management at IUP and works in conjunction with Procurement Services. An employee in this class is responsible for the receipt, storage and distribution of a variety of stores items.
Work includes:
recordkeeping activities necessary for the maintenance of supply levels based on consumption of supplies such as posting incoming and outgoing commodities to perpetual inventory records and initiating requisitions for replenishment of stock; or those recordkeeping activities associated with the maintenance of records for the combined receiving and shipping functions within a central storeroom operation for a department, including completion of receiving reports noting partial or damaged shipments and making the necessary arrangements for the shipment of supplies through transportation companies. This Position also performs the sale of surplus items utilizing auction sites. Work independently and have responsibility for office and janitorial supplies. Work may include the use of mechanized storeroom equipment to move materials. A superior makes specific work assignments on matters relating to departmental policy and practices, but the employee works with independence within the assigned area of responsibility. ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Receives, examines, and records the receipt of goods; stores goods in proper storage places; receives delivery orders; withdraws goods from stock, checking for required commodity size and lot; posts incoming and outgoing commodities to perpetual inventory records. Logs incoming and outgoing shipments noting date of receipt/shipment, contents, and destination; inspects quantity and quality of commodities to ensure conformance to specifications; accepts or rejects goods as indicated; completes a receiving report noting partial or damaged shipments. Assembles and packs shipments; contacts transportation companies to arrange for shipping; oversees and assists the proper loading of goods. Initiates requisitions for replenishment of stock based on supplies on hand and departmental use; reviews inventory records and the utilization of supplies in order to avoid overstocking items having a low turnover rate. Operates a forklift, hand truck or other storeroom equipment to move oversized or heavy materials. Delivers and retrieves materials, supplies, and mail around campus. Takes or assists in taking physical inventories of stock. Performs related work as required.
WORK SCHEDULE
Monday through Friday 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND TRAINING
One year of experience in stockroom, warehouse, or clerical work; and graduation from high school. or Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

The salary for this position is determined by the AFSCME Collective Bargaining Agreement.
