We have a wide selection of the best and newest products along with fresh house-made items that cater to our unique community. Our Specialty department has a deep passion for connecting our patrons with mouth-watering, delectable local, gourmet and hard-to-find items. On that list is something for everyone - a favorite cheese! We are currently hiring for a Cheesemonger to share their passion, experience and knowledge for cheeses with our valued customers. The position is much more than the expertise of cheese, it is the commitment to tend to the cheese until it is sold and to educate customers to make proper choices or try that new item that becomes their new household favorite. The right candidate must be knowledgeable, approachable and work with a team of very knowledgeable specialists who exemplify and lead the charge when it comes to Pruett's Market customer service in the Specialty department in what is NOT an impersonal grocery chain! The department houses a large cheese case with a huge variety local, artisan and fresh hand-cut cheeses. Our Cheesemonger will help create an informative and special shopping experience for our guests and should have a contagious smile, outgoing personality and be ready to help recommend which cheeses pair well with the perfect foods and wines. Our Cheesemonger should also be able to relate the product's story and how it compares with other products and explain the flavors. Our goal is for every customer at our case to leave with a little more passion and excitement for cheese - fueled by our monger!

Job Duties Include:

• Provide outstanding customer service and run the day to day operations of the cheese/draft beer bar.
• Responsible for profitability of the department - including managing shrink, profit, margin, expense and sales targets.
• Accountable for buying, merchandising and inventory control while driving our standards for retail and merchandising.
• Ability to cut, wrap, maintain and fill the cheese case.
• Establishes working relationships with other departments for cross-merchandising or promotional opportunities.
• Merchandising, arranging and displaying cheese and other items within the retail space.
• Adheres to all safety and security standards.
• Other duties within the department, including but not limited to, stocking beer, wine, chocolates, coffee. Helping with floral & events.
• Receives product deliveries and manages storage

Job Qualifications:

Advanced knowledge of specialty cheese products. Must be able to lift over 50 pounds. Strong managerial experience, leading and developing a team. Preferable experience in a retail environment. Outstanding customer service skills along with team building and motivating others while being able to give positive and constructive feedback. Must demonstrate solid decision-making ability, leadership skills with the ability to prioritize and delegate efficiently. Must work at least one weekend day.
