Full Job Description Job Summary:
Working as a Floater is rewarding and engaging. You are responsible for coming to work as a friendly associate ensuring each customer receives amazing service following the Van Marcke standards. Aiding customers by answering any questions they may have and helping them locate the merchandise they are looking for. Assisting in the receiving, stocking, pricing of all merchandise and help maintain a clean and orderly store.
Responsibilities:
Perform all duties within the store as trained and directed by the Store Manager. Ensure each customer receives outstanding guest service by providing a friendly environment, greeting and acknowledging every customer, maintaining strong product knowledge, and following all guest service standards. Assist customers at the counter, process sales transactions, and operate the computerized point-of-sale (POS) system. Answer incoming phone sales calls and assist with inquiries. Facilitate special orders for customers and pull customer orders accurately and efficiently. Assist in receiving merchandise, including monitoring the unloading of all materials into the facility; ensuring materials are staged for counting and inspection; and ensuring receiving reports accurately reflect materials received. Ensure materials are stored properly to conserve space and comply with safety procedures; assist with inventory rotation within the store. Resolve discrepancies with accounting regarding invoices, packing slips, and receiver reports; monitor paperwork flow and perform inventory control with timely data entry. Assist in controlling inventory shrink, expenses, and payroll awareness as directed. Maintain appropriate merchandise stock levels, merchandise presentation, signage, and assortments across all departments. Stock and replenish out-of-stock items, including down-stocking merchandise as needed. Assist with comparison shopping, report findings, and share information with management as requested. Support store and department goals by reviewing trends and assisting with recommended changes. Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures through participation in meetings, store walk-throughs, and audits. Maintain store cleanliness, including taking out trash, dusting, mopping floors, cleaning restrooms, associate areas, and stockroom spaces. Learn and follow company policies, established safety rules, and safe work practices; immediately report accidents to management Drive between store locations or to the warehouse for business needs as required by the Store Manager. Mileage will be accrued and reimbursed for approved business travel between locations during working hours only. Assist at the warehouse as needed, including unloading water heater trucks and other materials. Perform other duties as assigned by upper management.
Requirements:
Strong work ethic; team player willing to go above and beyond.
Education/Training:
High School diploma required; some college preferred. Previous retail experience in sales, counter sales, or merchandising preferred. Possess product knowledge of hardware-related and/or plumbing products, or willingness to learn. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekdays and weekends, to meet business needs. Ability to travel to other store locations as needed. Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to drive for business purposes when requested by management. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently to load and unload customer orders, warehouse deliveries, and merchandise. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks throughout the shift. Ability to move, lift, and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures throughout the store and warehouse environment. All new hires will be trained to assist customers from start to finish, including completing purchases using the POS system. The ideal Sales Associate candidate will have retail experience with counter sales and a strong customer service focus.
