Job Description

Donation Attendant 100 West Lockhart Street, Kyle, TX 78640 $15 an hour - Full-time $15 an hour - Full-time The Donation Attendant is responsible for providing excellent customer service to donors, receiving and processing donated items, and maintaining a clean, safe, and organized donation area. This role plays a vital part in supporting the thrift store's mission by ensuring donated items are handled efficiently and respectfully.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet donors in a friendly and professional manner. Assist donors with unloading and transporting donated items. Provide receipts and donation acknowledgments as needed. Answer questions regarding acceptable and unacceptable donation items. Desired Characteristics Friendly and approachable demeanor. Dependable and punctual. Strong attention to detail. Commitment to customer service and community support. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Donation Processing:
Receive, inspect, and sort donated merchandise. Identify items suitable for resale, recycling, or disposal according to store guidelines. Separate donations into designated categories such as clothing, furniture, electronics, housewares, books, and collectibles. Report valuable or unusual items to management. Safety & Organization Maintain a clean, organized, and safe donation area. Follow proper lifting techniques and safety procedures. Assist in keeping pathways, loading zones, and storage areas free of hazards. Inventory Support Move donations to processing or sales areas as needed. Assist with stocking and replenishing merchandise on the sales floor when required. Support inventory management and organization efforts. Qualifications Previous customer service, retail, warehouse, or donation center experience is a plus. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Basic organizational and time-management abilities. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the workday. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly, with assistance for heavier items. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions when receiving donations. Working Conditions Frequent interaction with customers, donors, and staff. Weekend, evening, and holiday shifts are required based on business needs.
