The Department of Media Production, Management, and Technology (MPMT) at the University of Florida invites applications for a nine-month, tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position (who currently has tenure) starting August 2027. We seek an energetic scholar with an active research program centered on any aspect of media and technology. We welcome candidates from a broad range of methodological traditions and theoretical perspectives. Ethics and Problems in Media, bridging ethical, regulatory, and societal issues across both creative production and strategic media management contexts and other courses in the department, with opportunities to develop specialized upper-level electives and graduate seminars. Pursue internal and external research funding. Publish in leading academic venues. Mentor students and contribute to departmental, college, and university service. Minimum Qualifications A terminal degree (Ph.D., J.D., or equivalent) in media, communication, or a related social science or humanities discipline by August 2027. Demonstrated experience for national and international scholarly impact. (Assistant level) Established record of national and international scholarly impact. (Associate level) Demonstrated success in research funding. Evidence of excellence in university teaching. Preferred Qualifications Ability to engage students across both creative production and media management specializations in ethical and critical decision-making. The MPMT department serves approximately 500 undergraduate majors across two core specializations: Digital Film and Video Production and Media Management and Technology.
