Job Description

The A/V Technology Specialist is responsible for installing, configuring, supporting, and continuously improving audiovisual technology across campus. This includes classrooms, conference rooms, simulation spaces, and other learning environments. The position supports university events and serves as a primary technical resource for Extron equipment and related classroom technology. The position partners closely with faculty, staff, and students to troubleshoot issues, implement solutions, and promote effective use of instructional technologies. As a member of the Technology Services team, this position supports day-to-day Help Desk operations and provides technical support alongside Technical Support Specialists. The position is expected to monitor and respond to assigned Jira requests, provide general technical support as needed, and collaborate with other Technology Services staff to resolve issues.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. Install, configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and support audiovisual technology in classrooms, conference rooms, simulation spaces, and other learning environments. 2. Serve as the primary subject matter expert for Extron equipment, including control systems, classroom technology, projectors, audio systems, and related equipment. 3. Plan and coordinate classroom technology installations, upgrades, replacements, and improvements in collaboration with other members of the Information Technology team and other campus departments. 4. Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, connectivity, control-system, audio, video, and presentation issues related to classroom and event technology. 5. Provide audiovisual and technical support for university events, meetings, presentations, and other high-priority university events. 6. Provide media services and technical assistance to faculty, staff, and students in support of academic, administrative, and university event needs. 7. Evaluate campus technology needs and make recommendations regarding the purchase, replacement, and implementation of audiovisual equipment and solutions. 8. Maintain accurate inventory records for audiovisual and multimedia equipment, including equipment location, configuration, lifecycle, and replacement information. 9. Maintain documentation for classroom and audiovisual systems, including equipment configurations, installation information, troubleshooting procedures, and user instructions. 10. Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and campus departments on the installation, repair, maintenance, and implementation of audiovisual technology. 11. Maintain current knowledge of Extron products, audiovisual technologies, classroom technology standards, and industry practices. 12. Assist Technical Support Specialists with general hardware, software, account, peripheral, and other technology-related support as workload and priorities require. 13. Serve as a resource to Technical Support Specialists for troubleshooting and resolving classroom, audiovisual, and Extron-related issues. 14. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
QUALIFICATIONS

Experience :
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, audiovisual technology, communications technology, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant technical experience.
  • Two to four years of experience providing technical support, audiovisual support, classroom technology support, or a related technical field preferred.
  • Extron, audiovisual, networking, or related technical certifications are desirable.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of audiovisual and classroom technology systems.
  • Experience with Extron systems or a demonstrated ability to learn and support Extron technology.
  • Strong hardware and software troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot technology equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand technical documentation, system diagrams, and equipment specifications.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to users with varying levels of technical knowledge.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple requests and projects.
  • Ability to work independently while actively participating as a member of a collaborative technical support team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to document work accurately and maintain current technical documentation.
  • Ability to work occasional nonstandard hours to support university events and other scheduled activities.

Pay:
$20.51 - $22.05 per hour Expected hours: 37.5 per week
