Associate Director, Pre-Professional Advising Tulane University - 4.0 New Orleans, LA Job Details Full-time 1 day ago Qualifications Computer operation Computer literacy Databases Bachelor's degree IT Computer skills Productivity software Team motivation (leadership skill) Full Job Description The Associate Director, Pre Professional Advising is a senior leadership role responsible for setting the strategic vision, operational direction, and overarching goals for pre‑professional advising at Newcomb-Tulane College (NTC). This position provides high‑level leadership and supervision to a team of pre‑professional advisors who deliver expert academic, professional, and application guidance to students pursuing health and legal professions or graduate education. This role ensures that advising practices remain nationally competitive, data-informed, inclusive, and aligned with NTC's student success mission. The Associate Director, Pre Professional Advising evaluates trends in health and legal education, assesses student outcomes, and leads initiatives that strengthen Tulane's pre‑professional pipelines from the first year through alumni engagement. This position contributes directly to the Strategy for Tomorrow goals of the Retention and Student Success Unit and holds a key leadership role within the College Advising management team. The Associate Director, Pre Professional Advising collaborates closely with the Director of College Advising, fellow Associate Directors, and campus partners to design, enhance, and assess training programs, professional development pathways, and advising standards across the unit.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field 5 or more years of experience in pre-law advising, pre-health advising (all fields), and/or career counseling, teaching, or dynamic student support at a college or university Ability to work weekends and evenings for special events, workshops, and occasional meetings to accommodate alumni and/or prospective students. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Effective time management skills. Great attention to detail. Ability to process and easily reference policies and regulations. Ability to work with College Advising student databases and other information technology and web programs. Working knowledge of standard computer software, such as office suite, email, etc., and the ability to learn and utilize specific software necessary for academic and career advising practice is r equired. Ability and desire for continuous improvement and learning academic and career advising best p ractices. Ability to implement academic and career development practices. Ability to motivate and inspire students.
