The Technology Assistant provides technology instruction to K-4 classes on a weekly basis. This position is supervised by the building principal and the Department Coordinator of Instructional Technology. Lessons consist of teaching students to think critically, Project Lead The Way (PLTW), computer science, Google Workspace, keyboarding, using various tools for drawing/graphics and presentations, Internet use and safety, use of various curriculum learning tools (i.e., i-Ready, IXL, Brain Pop, X2 Portal, Email etc.), and participating in various projects with classroom teachers. Lessons and curriculum are discussed at regular meetings with the TIS and Coordinator of Instructional Technology. The Technology Assistant also acts in the capacity of a technical resource in the building when not teaching classes. The Technology Assistant should be comfortable working on hardware and software related problems to assist students and staff with any technology issues. The Technology Assistant will also work on various other technology-related projects at the direction of the Director of ICTS. The Technology Assistant should possess the following skills:
  • Experienced in all technologies listed in the description
  • Familiar with Windows, Mac, Chrome
  • Ability to triage basic technology issues to keep student and staff devices running
  • Ability to manage up to 27 students at one time in a classroom setting
  • Ability to work with students who possess a wide range of skills and abilities
  • Ability to follow a curriculum, and modify the curriculum based upon student needs
  • Ability to attend trainings for various technologies (sometimes during summer months)
  • Ability to adapt, embrace, and implement new technologies
  • Associates Degree Required
  • Bachelor Degree Preferred
  • Teaching and technology background preferred
