Assists Site Technology Specialists as well as District Technology Staff in resolving technology issues and installs new technology equipment. Supports the District in achieving its educational goals. This job reports to the Technology Supervisor. Essential Functions Communicates orally and in writing with a variety of personnel (e.g. end users, technology staff, administrators, etc.) for the purpose of providing information, direction, and support throughout the District at multiple locations. Troubleshoot and provide timely assistance for user issues with technology that have been escalated. Coordinate with higher levels in the department and escalate Help Desk tickets as needed. Maintains a variety of files and/or records (e.g. security access; licenses; Help Desk tickets; software use, building technology equipment; student enrollment in third party programs; etc.) for the purpose of providing reference and audit trails. Maintains software and related inventory for the purpose of ensuring current availability. Orders supplies or parts, as needed, for the purpose of ensuring required materials are available. Participates in meetings, workshops and/or trainings for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions. Prepares a variety of written materials (e.g. procedures, documentation, reports, memos, letters, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information. Provides training in technology to Site Technology Specialists, Field Technology Specialists, and end users as required. Receives, completes, and closes out assigned building technology service request for the purpose of providing support, technical advice, and operational assistance. Installs new technology (e.g. computers, software, peripherals, projectors, smart boards, telecommunications etc.) as procured by the district. Other Functions Performs other related duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Technology and/or the Coordinator of Technology Support for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications Skills, Knowledge and Abilities SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Skill-Based Competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: teaching technical topics to non-technical audiences; adhering to safety practices; planning and managing projects; and gathering information to diagnose problems.
KNOWLEDGE
is required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: current generation and legacy computer operating and networking systems (e.g. Windows, MAC, etc.); computer hardware/network and troubleshooting techniques; network security; and office application software, etc. ABILITY is required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: effective communication skills; communicating with persons with diverse technical knowledge and skills; providing clear instructions; setting priorities; adaptability/flexibility; detail oriented; teamwork; works independently; and self-starter. Working Environment Travel is necessary between multiple locations using personal vehicle. The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing ladders; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 25% sitting, 40% walking, and 35% standing. The job is performed under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness and in a clean atmosphere.
