Job Description

Position Overview We are seeking an experienced ServiceNow ITAM Subject Matter Expert to lead and manage the complete lifecycle of enterprise hardware and software assets. This role will serve as the authority for IT Asset Management (ITAM) strategy, governance, and data integrity , ensuring accurate, auditable, and defensible asset records across both Hardware Asset Management (HAM) and Software Asset Management (SAM) environments. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in ServiceNow HAM Pro and SAM Pro , software licensing, CMDB health, Discovery, and audit readiness. This individual will work closely with Infrastructure, Procurement, Finance, Security, and Operations teams to maintain reliable asset data and establish scalable asset management processes. Key Responsibilities Hardware Asset Management (HAM) Own the end-to-end hardware asset lifecycle including procurement, receiving, deployment, transfer, stockroom management, and retirement. Maintain accurate and defensible asset inventories with proper ownership, cost center alignment, and purchase order traceability. Drive ServiceNow Discovery and CMDB reconciliation efforts to eliminate orphaned CIs and ghost assets. Lead physical asset audits and document discrepancies between physical inventory and ServiceNow records. Enforce standardized asset intake and receiving processes. Manage stockroom accuracy for spare, loaner, and decommissioned assets. Ensure proper asset retirement and disposal procedures are followed. Software Asset Management (SAM) Manage software entitlement records, normalization, discovery, and reconciliation activities using ServiceNow SAM Pro. Perform publisher reconciliation and compliance management for major vendors including Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, Adobe, and VMware. Identify license optimization opportunities and over-deployment risks. Support software audits and maintain audit-ready documentation. Track maintenance agreements, renewals, and subscription usage. Provide recommendations to reduce software spend and improve compliance.
HAM & SAM
Integration Ensure software installations are properly associated with managed hardware assets. Establish processes to reclaim software licenses automatically when hardware assets are retired. Resolve CMDB data quality issues impacting both hardware inventory and software compliance. Develop and maintain reporting that provides visibility into asset lifecycle and license utilization. Governance and Process Improvement Maintain high standards of data quality and process compliance. Identify operational risks and proactively recommend improvements. Collaborate with stakeholders to establish and enforce ITAM best practices. Provide guidance on asset management processes and governance standards. Support regulatory and audit requirements in a controlled environment. Required Qualifications 5+ years of dedicated IT Asset Management experience covering both Hardware Asset Management and Software Asset Management. 3+ years of hands-on experience with ServiceNow HAM Pro and SAM Pro in enterprise production environments. Strong understanding of software licensing models for Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, VMware, Adobe, and other major publishers. Experience supporting software vendor audits and compliance initiatives. Working knowledge of ServiceNow CMDB, Discovery, and Identification & Reconciliation Engine (IRE). Experience with asset lifecycle management, entitlement management, and reconciliation processes. CIS-ITAM
certification or equivalent hands-on experience. Preferred Qualifications IAITAM CAMP or CITAM certifications. Experience with ServiceNow ITOM modules including Discovery and Service Mapping. Scripting experience with JavaScript and GlideScript. Experience within highly regulated environments such as financial services, healthcare, or government. Knowledge of ITIL processes and ITSM best practices
