Permanent, full time Reporting to: Senior VP of Program Management Your role in the mission: The Lead Laboratory Technical Associate will be responsible for: Assembling equipment, sub-systems, instruments and data acquisition for a fusion fuel cycle development lab using UHV best practices; Planning, writing procedures, and performing experiments; Mentoring and teaching laboratory personnel how to operate UHV systems, compressed gas systems, and associated equipment safely; Manage laboratory equipment and consumables; Must be able to present experimental results to engineers and scientists. The ideal Lead Laboratory Technical Associate must have a safety first mindset. What you'll need: Minimum 10 years of experience in a development laboratory using UHV systems and instruments; Solid understanding and experience using the globally harmonized system of classification and labelling of chemicals; Demonstrated experience using SDS and applying them to experimental planning, safety measures, and PPE; In depth knowledge of UHV systems, components, instruments, and best practices; Experience with cryogenic systems including cryocoolers, liquid nitrogen, and liquid helium; Mechanical and electrical assembly skills for UHV and cryogenic equipment; In depth knowledge of data acquisition and analysis; Presentation skills. Desired experience Hydrogen safety and compressed gas handling experience; Experience with hydrogen isotopes; Experience with clean room protocols; Experience cleaning, handling, and storing components for clean room use or UHV use; Operational experience with metal hydride storage beds; Knowledge of the fusion fuel cycle.
