REQUIRED:
Bachelor's Degree Valid Texas Teacher Certificate Computer literate familiar with programs such as Microsoft Office and BISD Special Education computerized programs; Minimum of three (3) years of special education classroom experience.
PREFERRED
Bilingual (English/Spanish); Strong organizational and leadership skills; Knowledge of assistive technology policies and procedures; and Knowledge of assistive technology equipment and services. The role of the Assistive Technology is to review and approve submitted paperwork for assistive technology evaluations. The Assistive Technology Specialist will coordinate assistive technology evaluations with appropriate personnel, assist in assistive technology evaluations, and attend ARD meetings. The Assistive Technology Specialist will purchase necessary assistive technology equipment, develop and maintain assistive technology equipment inventory and also maintain and repair assistive technology equipment. The Assistive Technology Specialist will coordinate appropriate student services with other therapies. The Assistive Technology Specialist will provide direct assistance to students when necessary; train and provide technical assistance to students, family and campuses.
