Job Description

We are seeking an analytical Engineering Assistant to support engineering operations through technical data collection, basic statistical analysis, external partner liaison, and system documentation. In addition to data analysis and vendor coordination, you will draft Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and assist in training plant personnel during the rollout of new equipment and process systems. Key Responsibilities SOP Development & New System Training (25%) Draft clear, concise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), visual Work Instructions (WIs), and training materials for newly commissioned equipment, testing setups, and engineering workflows. Translate vendor technical manuals and engineering requirements into user-friendly shop-floor documentation. Assist in developing training modules and conducting hands-on training sessions for operators, technicians, and maintenance personnel during new system rollouts. Track training completion logs and continuously refine SOPs based on operator feedback and continuous improvement findings. External Entity, Contractor & Supplier Correspondence (25%) Serve as a technical point of contact for external engineering firms, equipment suppliers, and field contractors. Coordinate the exchange of technical specifications, manuals, baseline testing data, and project submittals between internal engineering teams and external partners. Log, track, and follow up on Requests for Information (RFIs), Change Orders, engineering query logs, and vendor lead times. Data Collection & Field Logging (25%) Gather raw mechanical, process, and performance metrics from production equipment, R&D testing setups, and quality logs. Conduct structured plant/lab walk-throughs to measure process parameters (temperature, pressure, yield, cycle times, continuous flow rates). Implement strict data entry standards to preserve data integrity and consistency. Basic Statistical Analysis, Visualization & Reporting (25%) Perform basic descriptive/inferential statistical analysis (mean, standard deviation, etc.) to evaluate process stability and detect drift. Convert complex datasets into clear visual charts (histograms, scatter plots, control charts, Pareto diagrams, trend lines) and executive dashboards. Assist in drafting graphical summaries for root-cause analyses (RCA), supplier audits, and CapEx proposals.
Qualifications & Core Requirements Education:
Associate Degree in Engineering Technology, Technical Communications, or equivalent practical experience.
Experience:
1-3 years in an engineering, manufacturing, R&D, or technical support role.
Technical Writing & Training:
Proven ability to translate complex engineering procedures into clean SOPs and train operators effectively.
External Coordination:
Experience in communication with external vendors, contractors, and managing RFI/submittal logs.
Software Tools:
High proficiency in MS Excel or Google Sheets. Familiarity with Minitab, Cad, or basic BI tools is a plus.
