This is an exciting opportunity for someone with great self direction to learn a new industry and grow in a well established, family owned company. The Scale Attendant will work in a variety of areas including answering phones, weighing and ticketing trucks at the scale house, daily record keeping, issuing sales orders and in person customer service assisting with sales. This position will operate a computer terminal to input customer data and assure proper charges to customers; receive and count money, prepare related reports, as well as assisting customers in product purchasing. The Scale Attendant will also work in the retail sales yard a minimum of 1 day a week, as well as providing coverage for days off and vacation. This is a full-time position that includes some required weekend and overtime work. The ideal candidate has a flexible schedule who can provide coverage when team members are out. Why Cedar Grove? Cedar Grove plays a critical role in the Puget Sound's recycling infrastructure and sustainability efforts, diverting more than 350,000 tons of yard waste and food scraps from landfills annually. With two processing facilities in Maple Valley and Everett, Cedar Grove is a local manufacturer providing green jobs in King and Snohomish Counties. Cedar Grove produces wholesome, nutrient-rich compost that is sold to businesses, governments and residents, ensuring consumers have access to locally produced, recycled products. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Operate scales to weigh incoming and outgoing vehicles Determine appropriate charges for vehicle/customer entering facilities; enter data into computer accurately Enter and process sales orders accurately Operate a computer terminal to input daily reports and record keeping Answer telephone and direct calls to appropriate personnel Assist customers on product selection, purchasing, and order processing Responsible for keeping office area clean Perform related duties as assigned Must be flexible and able to cover other shifts and positions as needed Required Skills Ability to multitask several projects at once accurately, efficiently and prioritize needs Record-keeping techniques Basic math and cashiering skills Make change quickly and accurately Observe health and safety regulations Learn company's organization, operations, policies and objectives Work independently with little direction Work courteously and tactfully with customers and associates Must be coachable and willing to learn Learn basic product knowledge and uses Learn new, job-related material through oral instruction in an on-the-job setting Education/Certification High school diploma or GED equivalent Experience/Other One year cash handling or customer service experience preferred Physical Demands The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
