POSITION SUMMARY
The School Adjustment Counselor's role entails providing a full range of services to students who need additional support. As a key member of the Health and Wellness team, the School Adjustment Counselor will partner with school administrators and teachers to develop and implement plans that provide specialized support for selected students throughout the course of the school year. The School Adjustment Counselor reports to the Director of Special Education. This is a full-time, school-year position.
EXPECTATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide individual and group counseling; Coordinate with IEP teams to provide direct counseling services to students as determined by their Individual Education Plans (IEP); Create goals and report on the progress of students' IEPs in collaboration with IEP teams; Provide crisis intervention when needed; Provide consultation to teachers regarding the social and emotional needs of students; Make referrals and link students and their families to outside resources; Report direct service data on a weekly basis; Participate in appropriate grade level or other meetings to support the social and emotional well-being of the students; Develop individualized safety plans as needed; Provide outreach to parents and families (home visits, telephone outreach, etc.).
