Job Title:
School-Based Mental Health Counselor Location:
Stark County, Ohio Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm with some evening hours required; flexible scheduling for caseloads
Pay:
$21.75 - $28.50 (based on experience and licensure) Job Overview As a School-Based Mental Health Counselor, you will provide counseling and support services that help students and families thrive both academically and personally. In this role, you will conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and provide individual or group counseling using evidence-based practices. You will collaborate with school staff and families to ensure comprehensive support. Success in this position looks like building trusting relationships, improving student outcomes, and contributing to a supportive school community. Qualifications Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or Marriage & Family Therapy Active Ohio license: LPC, LSW, MFT, IMFT, LISW, or LPCC Those who are exam eligible and newly licensed are welcome to apply Experience working in community mental health; school-based experience preferred Experience supporting youth and families a plus Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) and/or CPR certification (obtainable within 90 days of hire) Strong skills in crisis intervention, communication, and collaboration Proficiency with electronic records and Microsoft Office Suite Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate empathy and professionalism Physical ability to perform counseling duties in schools, homes, and community settings, including occasional lifting up to 25 pounds Responsibilities and Duties Conduct mental health assessments to identify client needs and barriers to success Develop and implement personalized treatment plans based on evaluations Provide individual, group, and crisis counseling using evidence-based practices Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, families, and school staff to coordinate care Monitor client progress, adjust treatment plans, and prepare discharge plans as appropriate Maintain accurate, confidential documentation in compliance with licensure and funding requirements Provide consultation and education to parents and school staff as needed Participate in professional development and maintain required licensure and certifications

Additional Workshops/Trainings:
Up to 16 hours of paid work release annually for workshops, with $200 in funds for CEUs (24 hours and $250 for employees maintaining two licenses). Licensure fee coverage up to $320 annually for one license. Flexible work scheduling with supervisor approval to make up time during workshop weeks.
