School-Based Physical Therapist - Norfolk, VA Sunbelt Staffing - 3.8 Norfolk, VA Job Details Qualifications Physical Therapy License Physical therapy Full Job Description Degree in Physical Therapy, active Physical Therapist license and 1+ year of Physical Therapy experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Make a meaningful impact supporting K-12 students as a contract Physical Therapist for the upcoming school year. Collaborate with educators and families to help students achieve their mobility and participation goals across multiple school sites in the Norfolk area. As an itinerant therapist, you'll experience a variety of settings, working with a diverse, dynamic caseload. The upcoming school year assignment begins August 11, 2026, and runs through May 29, 2027. This is an excellent opportunity for professionals who thrive in flexible environments and are passionate about fostering student growth and independence.
Qualifications & Experience:
Valid Virginia Physical Therapist license required Previous experience in school-based or pediatric physical therapy preferred Strong skills in evaluation, treatment planning, and documentation Ability to travel between multiple schools Excellent communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams Comfort working with K-12 students of varying needs and abilities
Key Responsibilities:
Complete assessments and develop individualized treatment plans for students Deliver direct and consultative PT services per IEP requirements Document progress and maintain accurate records in accordance with school and state standards Collaborate with teachers, families, and support staff for integrated care Participate in IEP and eligibility meetings as needed Provide guidance to support staff as appropriate Adhere to all school district onboarding and compliance requirements, including fingerprint clearance
