Responsibilities Safely operate school buses and paratransit vehicles according to traffic laws, safety protocols, and company policies. Pick up and drop off students at designated locations, ensuring punctuality and safety at all times. Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and colleagues to coordinate schedules and address concerns. Enforce behavior management policies to promote respectful conduct onboard and maintain a positive environment. Conduct pre-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure mechanical safety and report any issues promptly. Assist students with special needs or childcare requirements, providing compassionate support when necessary. Maintain accurate logs of routes, mileage, and incidents; complete shift reports diligently to ensure compliance. Requirements Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; experience in bus driving or commercial driving is highly preferred. Proven ability to operate vehicles safely in various traffic conditions; knowledge of mechanical basics is advantageous. Excellent communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse communities. Experience working with children or in childcare settings; strong behavior management skills are essential. Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively; familiarity with paratransit services is beneficial. Strong customer service orientation with the patience to work with students of all ages, including those requiring special care. Regular Bus Route Driver CDL with school bus and passenger endorsements, as well as air brake endorsements - required. Must meet all state licensing requirements for school bus drivers; physical fitness to perform daily duties is necessary.
