Immediately Job Description We are searching for a passionate and dependable School Nurse/Health Occupations teacher to join our team. The Southeast Warren School District follows a 4-Day Week Calendar. In addition to our welcoming staff and great students, you will enjoy multiple 3-day weekends each month.Qualifications:
Valid state nursing license in good standing with the Iowa Board of Nursing. sound communication and public relation skills; nursing experience desirable. CPR/AED certified. Current certification in mandatory reporting of child abuse.Job Goal:
To assist the school in providing the fullest possible educational opportunity for each district student by creating a climate of health and well-being.Consults With:
Superintendent, principals, students, parents, teachers, secretaries, and support staffJob Responsibilities:
Assists school and administrators in developing a school health program Participates in work of the health curriculum committee Oversee Wellness Committee, meet yearly to review the district wellness policy, submit for board approval and report to the CFF committee at the spring meeting Coordinates school programs (including information dissemination) for reporting immunization status of students, dental, vision and hearing testing as directed. Monitors students on a regular basis to manage health needs Maintains up-to-date cumulative health records for health concerns Reports to parents, school personnel, physicians, clinics and other agencies on student health matters as directed Implements and maintains records for bus driver Drug and Alcohol Testing Program Maintain athletic physical list for all junior high and high school students, report to coaches and athletic director Supervises and oversees the health associates in the primary and secondary buildings Teacher license or DMACC adjunct instructor, teaching both semesters, for students interested in a career in the health field. Students obtain both high school and DMACC college credit for classes as well as obtaining Red Cross First Aid and CPR certification and Stop the Bleed training. Administers first aid and emergency care to students and staff as needed. Assume responsibility for the care of a student or staff member who has suffered an injury or emergency illness until parents are notified and/or appropriate medical care is sought. Makes recommendations to the principals or superintendent on individual health needs of students as needed Counsels students in health related issues Attends 504, IEP meetings for students with special health needs. Assist in modifying school programs to provide accommodations for children with special needs. Implements policy on exclusion and re-admission of students in connection with infectious and contagious diseases. Participates in in-service programs Responsible for yearly blood-borne Pathogen in-servicing of staff, district contact person for mandatory reporting. Monitor completion of staff required training and keep records of completion. Consults with teachers regarding course content and instructional opportunities regarding areas of health Assess student health status and provide channels through which referrals may be made and follow up referrals for treatment. Responsible for teaching CPR to staff, coaches, and daycare staff. Coordinate the district's workmen's compensation program with the Business manager. Physical Requirements Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
