Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Department Chair, this position is responsible for the acquisition, maintenance, repair and storage of equipment and supplies used to support instruction, experiential learning, and research for the School of Engineering. Some light fabrication and manufacturing of special items for this department is expected.Key Responsibilities:
30%- Set up scientific teaching displays. Must coordinate with faculty to maximize learning experience for students. Some of the teaching materials require construction or modification by the employee for use. 25%
- Operate, maintain, and repair various scientific and technical equipment, including, but not limited to, water quality testing equipment; hydrologic equipment, materials testing equipment, domestic water supply, plumbing, storage, pumps, and heaters; optical equipment such as spectrophotometers, microscopes and cameras; and fabrication and manufacturing equipment.
- Provide student instruction in the independent use of equipment and techniques used in teaching laboratories, including safe working practices, chemical hygiene and hazardous waste disposal procedures.
- Maintains inventory. Anticipates, prioritizes needs, and orders materials, supplies, and equipment. Issues laboratory materials and equipment to faculty, staff, and students. 5%
- Ensures lab safety through participation in safety training, dissemination and enforcement of safety practices and protocols, and compliance with the Office of Health and Safety standards. 5%

Equivalent to two years of experience providing instructional support services for a unit or discipline, acting as a student assistant, or in producing materials or supplies related to the discipline. or Equivalent to two years of college with 16 semester units in courses involving extensive use of materials, supplies, or equipment and in a discipline related to the area to which assigned may be substituted for one year of the required experience. or Equivalent to four years of college with 16 semester units in courses involving extensive use of materials, supplies, or equipment and in a related discipline may be substituted for the experience.Preferred Qualifications:
