Jul 1, 2026 Job Description School Principal Grades K-4 Lawrence Public Schools (LPS) serves more than 13,000 students across 26 schools (PK-12) with over 2,800 employees. Approximately 94% of students identify as Hispanic/Latino, 71% speak a language other than English at home, and 31% are multilingual learners.   • Instruction that develops higher-order thinking Role The Principal serves as the instructional and organizational leader of the school, responsible for driving student achievement, developing staff, and ensuring a safe, inclusive, and high-performing learning environment.
This role requires a leader who can translate vision into practice—using data, coaching, and systems to deliver measurable results for all students, particularly multilingual learners and students with disabilities. Responsibilities Instructional Leadership Ensure rigorous, standards-aligned instruction in all classrooms Lead data-driven cycles of assessment, analysis, and instructional improvement Implement effective supports for multilingual learners and students with disabilities Staff Leadership & Talent Management Recruit, hire, develop, evaluate, and retain high-quality staff Provide consistent coaching and feedback to improve instructional practice Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement School Culture & Student Support Establish a structured, inclusive, and achievement-oriented school culture Oversee student behavior systems and disciplinary practices Ensure a safe and supportive environment for all students Data & Continuous Improvement Set clear, measurable schoolwide goals for student achievement Monitor progress and adjust strategies based on data Lead action planning to address student learning gaps Family & Community Engagement Build strong relationships with families and community partners Communicate regularly with families about student progress and school priorities Engage stakeholders in supporting student success Operations & Management Oversee scheduling, staffing, budgeting, and daily school operations Ensure efficient systems that maximize instructional time Maintain compliance with district and state requirements Qualifications Massachusetts DESE Principal/Assistant Principal license (K-5 or 6-8), or eligibility Master's degree in education or a related field Demonstrated success improving student outcomes, particularly for multilingual learners, students with disabilities, and other historically underserved groups Strong instructional leadership and experience leading school improvement efforts Experience managing staff, budgets, and school operations Proven ability to build relationships with staff, families, and community stakeholders Bilingual (Spanish/English) strongly preferred Authorization to work in the United States Compensation and Benefits Salary range: $127,813.00
  • $173, 677.00.
