Job Description

School Psychologist Reporting to the
K-12 SPED
Coordinator, the K-12 School Psychologist provides mental health services including comprehensive assessments and consultation for students. As a member of the SPED team, the School Psychologist will assist in eligibility determination and Individual Education Plan (IEP) development, implementation, and monitoring. This position will support the success of students academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally. Through direct observation, one-on-one sessions, group settings, and work with teachers and parents, the psychologist helps to ensure that the school curriculum and environment accommodates all students.

Compensation:
This is a full-time, 10-month +10 Contact Days position. Salaries start at $68,967 and go up based on education and years of licensed experience. Essential Functions:
Provide direct and indirect mental health services to students with academic, social, emotional and/or behavioral challenges Administer and interpret cognitive, social/emotional, behavioral, academic, and adaptive Standardized Assessments including record review, interview, observation, and standardized assessment Assist team members in developing and implementing IEPs and 504 plans Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) Develop, implement, and monitor Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) Conduct social skills groups for both students with mental health services, as well as General Education students as needed Provide consultation to parents, teachers, school administrators and other school personnel to promote positive student academic, social, emotional and behavioral outcomes A liaison between the home, school, community health agencies to enhance the health and wellness of the school community Assist other school mental health professionals in providing student crisis intervention services including threat assessments, counseling, and referrals to appropriate community agencies Participate in the school's Response to Intervention (RTI) processes to design, implement, and monitor student response to research-based interventions for targeted academic, social, emotional and behavioral needs Uses research-based and technically sound practices to drive decision-making and interventions; and collaborates with school personnel and parents in order to develop and modify student intervention strategies Works with MTSS team and teachers to develop a follow up on a sequence of interventions for students who are at risk of falling behind academically Reach out to other resources as necessary to help students Provides specific tools and classroom management training to teachers to assist with students particular needs Comply with school, CSI, CDE, and other state and federal policies and procedures (e.g., Medicaid billing, accident reporting) Make every effort to stay current with emerging trends in child psychology, student behavior, and coping strategies. Attend all required in-service trainings Provide training as needed to teachers and staff Regular and timely attendance Other duties as assigned
General Abilities, Knowledge, Qualifications, and Skills:
Masters in Psychology, current professional license, and Colorado Department of Education license required. Familiarity with federal, state, and CSI guidelines for SPED Expertise with a wide range of Standardized Assessment including progress monitoring tools Ability to provide a continuum of mental health services including prevention and intervention strategies Familiarity with a variety of community resources and agencies Knowledge of research-based academic and behavioral interventions Bilingual in Spanish & English preferred. Prefer experience working with diverse student groups, high needs student groups and socio-economically disadvantaged student groups from various backgrounds to achieve exceptional results in academics. Previous experience as a school psychologist preferred. Commitment to mission and vision of the school. Effective oral and written communication. Excellent organization skills. Working Conditions:
Exposure/Noise Level:
Occasional exposure to airborne particles, fumes, and outdoor weather conditions. Normal school environment with moderate to high noise level.
Mental Functions:
Analyze, collaboration, communicate, compare, compilation of data, compute, coordinate, copy, direct, evaluate, instruct, interpersonal skills, present, report, synthesize.
Physical Activities:
Office and classroom environment including computer interface. Bend, reach, sit, stand, stoop, talk, walk, and heavy person-to-person interaction with students and colleagues.
Weight and Force Demands :
Moderate physical activity (lifting, pulling, and pushing up to 25 pounds).
Other:
