School District is seeking experienced candidates with strong interpersonal skills to join our high school team. As a School Psychologist, you will carry out a variety of activities outlined below.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
  • Provide high quality student-centered supports to
POLYTECH
students. o Assess needs of students through appropriate assessment and diagnostic practices and collaborate with school staff and administrators to develop appropriate supports, services, and/or interventions. o Coordinate the Child-Find process and recommend testing and/or services. o Assist with coordinating related services provision. o Serve as consultant for counselors to determine student eligibility for initial 504 plans. o Consult with school staff concerning special education and 504 plan students' needs. o Participate in PST meetings. o Collaborate with administration to develop Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs). o Collaborate with school staff to develop MTSS Tier 1 intervention strategies. o Collaborate with school staff for MTSS Tier 2 and Tier 3 identification, placement and programming. o Coordinate and administer diagnostic testing and recommend placement for all students with disabilities and students with behavioral interventions. Upon administrator request coordinate and administer diagnostic testing and recommend placement for all referred (unidentified) students. o Issue Permission To Evaluate forms. o Conduct and write Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA) reports. o Conduct student observations and write reports. o Conduct evaluations and write Evaluation Summary Reports (ESRs). o Write Prior Written Notice (PWN) reports as required. o Maintain case records on all students referred for special education services. o Review all incoming 9th grade students' ESRs and recommend adoption or revision; coordinate adoption and revision processes. o Evaluate the relationship between behavior and a disability, complete Manifestation Determination Reports, and participate in manifestation meetings. o Support and monitor development and provision of accommodations for eligible students. o Assist with needs-based funding unit count. o Manage SSD Online Disability Accommodation Management System data entry and coordinate statewide assessment accommodation services for students with disabilities. o Identify program needs and collaborate with school staff to develop appropriate programs for students receiving Diploma of Alternate Achievement Standards. o Participate in IEP meetings. o Participate in 504 plan meetings as requested. o Provide group and/or individual facilitative therapy for students with behavioral needs.
  • Support safe, healthy and supportive learning environments.
o Support lead teacher to provide special education training, professional learning and staff meetings. o Collaborate with school staff to support appropriate mental health strategies and practices. o Collaborate with special education lead teacher and administrator to develop, update, and carry out special education policies. o Collaborate with school staff to develop and carry out school-wide intervention strategies. o Attend state special education meetings as needed.
  • Coordinate Services with other agencies o Participate in interagency meetings. o Collaborate with community health and social welfare agencies to ensure appropriate student supports. o Prepare and submit required reports for outside agencies including, but not limited to, DOE, DYRS, DVR, and DDDS.
  • Encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensure effective communication with students and parents.
  • Demonstrate and model respect for individuals and responsible citizenship.
  • Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations.
  • Comply with federal and state laws and regulations and with district policies.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications:
Education:
NASP or APA School Psychology Degree, or complete a state-approved school psychology program.
Licensure and Certification:
Must meet Delaware requirements for licensure and certification(s) in accordance with Delaware Professional Standards Board regulations (14 DE Admin. Code 1500).

TopOfPage Preferred Experience:
  • Experience developing and delivering individual and group counseling services to adolescents.
  • Experience developing standards-based IEP and 504 goals.
  • Experience assessing, counseling, and developing interventions for individuals across the lifespan.
  • Minimum of three years' experience as a school psychologist in a high school setting.
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Behaviors:
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Analyze data, including social emotional, behavioral, and psychological assessments, to identify student strengths and needs and to aid in developing effective services and programs.
  • Consult and collaborate with colleagues, students, families and other professionals to promote effective implementation of services.
  • Provide guidance regarding biological, cultural, and social influences on academic skills/learning, cognitive, developmental processes, and evidence-based curricula and instructional strategies.
  • Conduct individual and group counseling services with students focused on evidence-based strategies to promote socialâ€"emotional functioning and mental health.
  • Promote school-wide learning and mental health through systems including response to intervention and positive behavioral interventions and supports.
  • Support multi-tiered prevention and strategies for effective crisis response.
  • Collaborate with families to enhance children's learning and mental health, including providing referrals for outside resources as needed.
  • Enhance services and address potential influences related to diversity through knowledge of individual differences, abilities, disabilities, and other diverse student characteristics.
  • Understand research and interpret data in applied settings with knowledge of research design, statistics, measurement, varied data collection and analysis techniques, and program evaluation.
  • Practice in accordance with ethical, legal, and professional standards.
  • Write, speak, and interact clearly and professionally.
  • Analyze student data to inform instructional adjustments and identify student needs.
  • Read, analyze and interpret professional literature and federal and state guidance documents.
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of students, parents, administrators, and staff members.
  • Perform effectively in environments with competing demands.
  • Use eSchoolPLUS (pupil accounting software).
  • Proficient use of technology including Microsoft Office applications and educational software.
Terms of Employment:
  • This is a full-time, eleven-month position.
  • This position reports to the principal or assistant principal responsible for the Special Education program.
  • Successful completion of Criminal Background Check, Tuberculosis Test (PPD), and Child Protection Registry Clearance must be completed prior to start of employment.
  • Salary will be calculated in accordance with the verified educational level and work experience of the selected candidate and in accordance with the district's Teacher Salary Scale.
  • Direct deposit of payroll checks is mandatory and employees are paid on a lag pay schedule with the first payment made after approximately one month of employment.
