Job Description
This Opportunity WSP is currently initiating a search for a Project Archaeologist to support projects across Southern California, based out of our Riverside, California office. This role offers the opportunity to work on meaningful cultural resources projects as part of our Cultural Resources Management (CRM) Team, contributing to work that shapes communities and protects cultural heritage. In addition to our many ongoing Phase I, II, and III projects, WSP has multiple upcoming cultural resources efforts ranging from survey through mitigation across Southern California, with additional work anticipated throughout California and the Western United States. WSP is seeking talented candidates to join our expanding Cultural Resources Management Team. Our highly experienced staff is located across the United States and supported by a strong national and global technical network, offering collaboration, mentorship, and opportunity. At WSP, you'll be part of a global consulting firm that is locally dedicated with international scale, committed to professional development, collaboration, and doing the work the world needs. Your Impact Lead and manage heritage and cultural resources projects in California. Direct field teams conducting archaeological surveys and excavations. Assist with the development and scoping of medium-sized projects. Interact effectively with clients, landowners, contractors, and stakeholders. Collaborate with Tribal monitors and Tribal representatives. Support client compliance with California, state, and federal cultural resources regulations. Prepare and contribute to cultural resources reports, impact assessments, and permitting. Coordinate with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients professionally. Stay current with archaeological methods and best practices. Uphold ethical decision-making and compliance with WSP policies. Who You Are Required Qualifications Master's Degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, Historic Preservation, or related field. 3-5 years of CRM experience supporting Section 106/110 compliance. Strong understanding of California and federal regulatory frameworks. Excellent technical writing and communication skills. Knowledge of California and Western U.S. archaeology. Ability to lead tasks and support junior staff with strong QA/QC practices. Flexibility to support field-based schedules and occasional travel.
Preferred Qualifications:
