ABOUT THE JOB ASM
Affiliates is growing our Honolulu team and is seeking archaeologists at multiple experience levels to support our expanding workload throughout Hawaiʻi and the Pacific. We are currently hiring Field Technicians, Assistant Archaeologists, and Associate Archaeologists . These are Honolulu-based positions and candidates must be willing to relocate to Oʻahu . Our Honolulu staff support projects throughout the Hawaiian Islands, so interisland travel may be required depending on project needs. Clean driving record is required. Previous experience in Hawaiʻi and/or the Pacific Islands is strongly preferred.
FIELD TECHNICIAN
This is a primarily field-based position supporting archaeological projects throughout Hawaiʻi. Field Technicians may participate in archaeological survey, excavation, testing, data recovery, monitoring, documentation, and other field activities under the direction of supervisory archaeological staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
B.A. in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a related field Completion of an archaeological field school Previous archaeological field experience Ability to work effectively as part of a field team and adapt to a variety of environments and field conditions
Preferred Qualifications:
2+ years of field work experience or equivalent Archaeological experience in Hawaiʻi and/or the Pacific Islands
ASSISTANT ARCHAEOLOGIST
This position is primarily field-based with opportunities to develop experience in office-based and broader aspects of cultural resource management. Assistant Archaeologists may participate in archaeological survey, excavation, testing, data recovery, monitoring, laboratory analysis, research, data management, and preparation of technical reports and project documentation under the direction of senior staff. The pay range is $25.00 to $30.00 per hour and will be commensurate with the applicant's credentials, experience and responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications:
B.A. in Anthropology, Archaeology, Historical Archaeology, or a related field 2+ years of archaeological and/or CRM experience Strong field documentation, organizational, writing, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Archaeological experience in Hawaiʻi and/or the Pacific Islands Experience contributing to technical reports or other professional archaeological documentation Strong organizational, writing, and communication skills
ASSOCIATE ARCHAEOLOGIST
Associate Archaeologists have a balanced combination of field and office responsibilities and take on increased technical and project responsibilities. Duties may include leading or supporting archaeological fieldwork, conducting research and analysis, preparing and reviewing technical reports and project documentation, coordinating project tasks and field teams, supporting regulatory compliance, and assisting with project management. The pay range is $28.00 to $35.00 per hour and will be commensurate with the applicant's credentials, experience, and responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications:
B.A. in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a related field 5+ years of professional archaeological/CRM experience Strong archaeological field, technical writing, and project coordination experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Graduate degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, Historical Archaeology, or a related field Archaeological experience in Hawaiʻi and/or the Pacific Islands Knowledge of Federal and Hawaiʻi cultural resource laws and regulations, including NHPA Section 106 and HRS Chapter 6E Excellent organizational, task management, and communication skills Experience with project management, proposal preparation, and/or business development
