Archaeology Crew Chief Position Grade:
10 Position Summary Under direct supervision, oversees and leads an archaeological crew during archaeological surveys and excavation projects. Oversees the collection, recording, and interpretation of archaeological data in the field, and coordinates laboratory processing and analysis activities. Assists in the preparation of final descriptive, analytical, and technical reports for publication, and contributes chapters to technical reports. See the Position Description for additional information. Conditions of Employment Possession of a valid United States driver's license is a requirement for this job. Successful candidate must be able to meet minimum requirements for Local/State/Federal Archaeological permits. Successful candidate must submit to a post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, equivalent discipline; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. Preferred Qualifications 2 Years Supervisory Experience 2-3 Years Field Work Permittable by the State of NM (Historical Preservation Division) Lab Experience Specialty (Lithics, Historic Materials, etc.)
