Job Description

Project-II Archaeologist Full-time:
40 hours per week - Las Vegas Metro Area Broadbent & Associates, Inc. is seeking curriculum vitae from qualified candidates for a Project-II Archaeologist in Henderson, NV . This is a full-time, salaried position (NOT Seasonal). The successful candidate will be expected to conduct field work and manage cultural resources projects in the Great Basin, Mojave Desert, Sonora Desert, Colorado Plateau, and surrounding regions. Key aspects of the position include hiking in moderate terrain in populated and remote areas of the Great Basin and Southwest; communicating effectively with the field crew and office personnel; recording and evaluating cultural resources; participating in surveys, excavations, and monitoring projects; safely driving field vehicles in the back country; and reading topographic maps for navigation in the field. While the successful candidate will work from Broadbent's Henderson office, they will actively collaborate with the larger cultural resources team in Reno and Denver. The candidate must demonstrate a mix of office and field skills, prefer field activities over office administration, and have a passion for helping clients navigate Section 106 of National Historic Preservation Act. Broadbent is an engineering and environmental consulting company founded in 1987. With over 140 employees, Broadbent serves a range of clients from in the western United States. Broadbent's cultural resources team currently includes five professional full-time staff in our Reno office, a full-time architectural historian in Phoenix, Arizona, a full-time historian in our Henderson office, and two full-time archaeologists in our Denver office. The cultural resources department is led by Ms. Margo Memmott out of the Reno office. Our cultural resources team is supported by an ArcGIS/Database Specialist, Broadbent's administrative staff, and an additional network of temporary/seasonal field staff. Minimum Requirements B.A. or B.S. in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a closely related field (Masters Preferred) Qualify as a Crew Chief or Principal Investigator Statewide in Arizona and Nevada and/or neighboring states for federally issued Archaeological Resources Protection Act (ARPA) permits, Cultural Resources Use Permits (CRUP), and State permits Training and experience implementing Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act Ability to traverse moderate mountains and desert terrain while carrying a 30-pound pack. Project hours are typically eight, 10-hour-days in the field. Overnight camping may be required for some projects. Five years of experience working in a consulting company, state agency, or federal agency Ability to perform both fieldwork and office activities independently and with a team Experience with data entry, producing site forms, and professional communication such as emails and letters. Experience writing professional reports for Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act; a writing sample may be requested Compensation Weekly schedule of 40 hours. Out-of-town fieldwork as required. Annual salary is between $61,000 and $90,000 (based on 40-hour week), commensurate with education, training, and experience.
