QM2 Postdoctoral Associate QM2 Postdoctoral Associate Cornell Laboratory for Accelerator-based Sciences and Education (CLASSE) Position Summary A postdoctoral associate is sought for collaborative work at the Cornell High Energy Synchrotron Source (CHESS ), a part of the Cornell Laboratory for Accelerator-based Sciences and Education (CLASSE) at Cornell University. The successful candidate will work on the QM2 Beamline, part of the NSF-funded CHEXS research program. Postdoctoral associates on CHEXS beamlines contribute both to our in-house research program and support our user program, both of which are mandated components of the CHEXS facility. The QM2 postdoctoral associate will work to uncover data-driven insights from the unique, comprehensive "big-data" measurements of quantum materials which are the specialty of QM2. Additionally, the postdoctoral associate will high performance computing approaches to discover hidden quantum correlations in materials and develop analytical tools that can be shared with users from across the country. This position will work closely with (and be mentored by) the QM2 staff scientist. Essential Qualifications PhD in experimental high-energy physics is required by the start of the appointment Strong record of accomplishment in data analysis Experience or interest in tracking detector technology Preferred Qualifications Interest and ability to work in a collaborative research environment Record of scientific publications Ability to communicate effectively with technical experts, operations staff, and researchers of all levels Proficiency in science communication, written and oral, formal and informal Compensation The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $75,000. Additional Information The term of this position is nominally for one year, with the possibility of renewal up to five years in total, based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding.
