Job Description

We are recruiting a highly motivated, talented, and enthusiastic R D Engineer(s) to our product development team. This position will offer you the opportunity to engage in team-based R D in the state-of-the-art in advanced biomaterials for FDA 510(k) clearance via our USF Corridor funded programs. The candidate must be hard-working, adaptable, and able to work in a fast-paced, enriching, and creative environment. They should value candor, trust, personal initiative, and passion. Position is time limited. Position is grant-funded. Must be a current USF Student Bachelor's or graduate degree (M.S., Ph.D) in biomedical engineering, business, mechanical engineering, biochemistry, biology, chemistry, physics, or related. Basic understanding and proficiency with statistics and data analysis software Passion for science, medicine, research, and entrepreneurship Exceptional computer skills (AI, Excel, Word, statistical software, social media) Ability to generate digital content from R D data for promotional, branding, and commercial needs. Substitution of Work Experience for Postsecondary Education Requirements A public employer may include a postsecondary degree as a baseline requirement only as an alternative to the number of years of direct experience required, not to exceed:
  • (a) Two years of direct experience for an associate degree;
  • (b) Four years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
  • (c) Six years of direct experience for a master's degree;
  • (d) Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree; or
  • (e) Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree Related work experience may not substitute for any required licensure, certification, or registration required for the position of employment as established by the public employer and indicated in the advertised description of the position of employment.
Minimum Qualifications that require a high school diploma are exempt from SB 1310. Perform, analyze, and interpret experiments independently and in a team. Perform and assist with analyzing advanced biomechanical testing, biomaterial testing, proteomic and chemical analyses, performed per ASTM and ISO guidelines, where applicable Perform and analyze mechanical testing Performing biochemistry and proteomic experiments Perform and manage all studies (internal, CRO, and CMO) required for FDA clearance, from basic studies, reporting, and documentation preparation for regulatory and quality submissions Support human factors and cadaver lab testing Occasional work to develop web/social content for the company and product promotion Create and curate pitch decks, investor-facing documents Supports research laboratory excellence by maintaining electronic lab notebooks, GLPs, supplies, troubleshooting, and resolving problems; helping with special projects, instrument qualification, and SOPs. Documents information by maintaining daily electronic lab notebooks, logs, and equipment record books, and ensures GLP operation of the lab, for IQ/OQ/PQ, quality testing, and GMP production Resolves problems by examining and evaluating data; selecting corrective steps. Completes projects by assisting the project team; attending and participating in group and project meetings. Maintains a safe, clean, and efficient lab and office environment. Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
