Description Wave Life Sciences, an oligonucleotide therapeutics company, seeks a highly motivated co-op student to join its team of scientists in Lexington, Massachusetts. The co-op student will gain exposure to the areas of oligonucleotide synthesis, chromatographic purification, tangential flow filtration (TFF) and analysis. Co-ops will be trained in a variety of laboratory techniques and instrumentation, making this an excellent learning opportunity. This is an ideal position for any student, including those looking for their first co-op, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail who thrive in a team-oriented, fast-paced, and cross-disciplinary biotech environment. Organic chemistry or Biochemistry laboratory experience is preferred. Responsibilities Reagent preparation & column packing for Oligo synthesis Buffer preparation, cleaning and sanitization of equipment used to manufacture oligonucleotides Purification of oligonucleotides Oligonucleotide synthesis preparation and handling of amidites Oligo quantitation using spectrophotometers Tangential Flow Filtration of purified oligos Operation of automated oligonucleotide synthesizers, purifiers, tangential flow filtration (TFF) systems and Lyophilizers Analysis of oligonucleotide samples by UPLC and LC-MS Using excel spreadsheets for data processing, analysis, and interpretation Documentation of lab experiments in an electronic notebook (ELN) Batch record review Inventory maintenance Key Skills and Competencies Strict adherence to lab safety protocols including PPEs.
