Fall 2026 Description - The Biology Department at Allen University is excited to announce an opening for a passionate and innovative educator and researcher to join us as an Assistant Professor of Chemistry. This full-time position is pivotal in enhancing our undergraduate programs in Chemistry, including General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry, and in leading impactful undergraduate research initiatives. The Assistant Professor will report to both the Department Chair and the Dean of the Division of Mathematics and Natural Sciences.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver undergraduate courses in General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry, utilizing creative and effective teaching strategies. Initiate, develop, and oversee significant undergraduate research projects, providing students with valuable hands-on investigative experiences. Engage in scholarly activities that contribute to the advancement of knowledge and academic discourse in Biochemistry/Chemistry. Collaborate with departmental and interdisciplinary teams to continuously improve curricula and research environments. Mentor and guide students academically, fostering their academic growth and career aspirations. Ensure that course content aligns with departmental goals, objectives, and desired student learning outcomes. Actively participate in departmental meetings, committees, and university-wide initiatives. Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned by the Department Chair or the Dean.
Qualifications:
A PhD in Chemistry/ Biochemistry or a closely related field. Demonstrated excellence or potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching. A strong commitment to student mentorship and research guidance. Effective interpersonal and communication skills. Evidence of scholarly activities and a clear research trajectory.
