Job portal All vacancies Research assistant in the Ellgaard Lab., Department of Biology A Research Assistant position for 16 months is open in the lab of Prof. Lars Ellgaard, Department of Biology ( https://www1.bio.ku.dk/english/research/bms/pbg/le/ ). The lab is based in a highly collaborative environment in the Section for Biomolecular Sciences, which is composed of 11 strong research groups. The lab is located at the Copenhagen Biocenter in central Copenhagen, Denmark. The position is open from 15 September 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. Job description Animal venom peptides represent a vast library of bioactive compounds for biomedical applications and the development of novel therapies. Some venom peptides mimic prey hormones and signal through prey receptors to influence their physiology. In this project investigate the function of a hormone-like venom peptide from predatory marine cone snails. The main focus of the work will be to establish a cellular assay for EGFR activation by the venom peptide as well as application of immunofluorescence microscopy to assess the localization of the exogenously expressed EGFR. In addition, the work will likely entail protein expression and purification of the venom peptide. Qualifications MSc in biochemistry, biology, molecular biomedicine or molecular biology Strong hands-on experience with mammalian tissue-culture methods and immunofluorescence microscopy are prerequisites Good interpersonal and communication skills High proficiency in both written and spoken English The position will also include lab course teaching and mentoring of students. Terms of employment The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff. Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State.
