About This PositionMass Audubon is looking for an energetic, team-oriented Wildlife Care Technician to perform the day-to-day care for non-releasable wildlife at the Blue Hills Trailside Museum, with its diverse collection of exhibit and program animals consisting of mammals, birds (including raptors), amphibians, and reptiles. This positions responsibilities include feeding and diet preparation, maintaining and cleaning of animal enclosures, behavioral observation, record keeping, exhibit maintenance, and providing environmental enrichment. ResponsibilitiesCare for wildlife:
Prepare and feed approved diets;Clean and disinfect cages and enclosures;Assist with response to medical needs of wildlife and consult with veterinarians as needed;Transport animals;Create and provide daily animal enrichment;Assist in socializing and conditioning animals for use in programs.
Support compliance with all applicable local/state/federal permits, regulations, protocols, and safety standards relating to the possession, care, and handling of program and display wildlife.

Must HavesAt least 18 years of ageHigh school diploma minimum, preferred college degree in Biology, Zoology, Ecology, Veterinary Technician, Wildlife biology, or a related fieldResponsible and self-driven with the ability to work independently and as a team playerAbility to communicate easily with staff and the publicAbility to work in a physically demanding, fast-paced work environment in all types of terrain and in all weather conditionsAbility to lift and haul up to 50 lbsAbility to relate to a diverse range of people and exercise cultural competence and inclusionCurrent rabies vaccination requiredNice to HavesPrior animal care experience highly preferred, demonstrating a sincere passion for working with captive wildlifeComfortable in close quarters with large birds, rodents, snakes, and insectsCompensation, Benefits and PerksThis positions pay range is $19.00-$21.00 per hour; actual rate of pay will reflect level of experience and qualifications relative to position requirements. This is not a benefits eligible position.
Work ScheduleThis is a seasonal position through June 2027. Weekly hours and workdays will vary, not to exceed 20 in any given workweek; a typical workday is 8:00am-12:00pm.
